Why I Am Leaving the Financial Sector for Critical Infrastructure
For the last 8 years, I have been the “eyes on glass” for a $29B financial institution. My job was simple in theory but complex in execution: Ensure that when a customer swipes their card at 3:00 AM, it works.
I lived by the rules of FFIEC compliance, SOX audits, and Zero-Trust architecture. I learned that “uptime” isn’t just a metric; it’s a promise to the customer.
The Pivot to Critical Infrastructure
Now, I am relocating back home to the Pacific Northwest (Washington) to take on a new challenge. I want to apply those same rigorous banking standards to the energy and utility sectors.
Why? Because the power grid is the ultimate “High Availability” environment.
The tools remain the same — PowerShell automation, SCCM patching, and deep log analysis with Splunk — but the stakes feel different. In banking, downtime means lost money. In critical infrastructure, downtime means lost services for communities.
I am excited to bring a “Financial Grade” security mindset to the rugged world of physical infrastructure.
If you are hiring in the Spokane or wider PNW area, let’s connect. I am ready to build.
