Flower-Song Codex: ĪTZPĀPĀLŌTL

ĪTZPĀPĀLŌTL-The Obsidian Butterfly

Flower-Song Codex Variant | Legendary

This Nawal, Ītzpāpālōtl first appears in the codices as a butterfly, for the butterfly is the shadow drip of dreamtime. In this form she is not death, but essence of all the precious bones. The shared sol of all living things, rising and falling, consuming and being consumed. When she walks the fields as a deer, which is linked with agriculture. When she drifts as a moth, she is remembrance. Life wears many masks, and she knows them all.

She is female, and she is paired. Her counterpart is Itzlacoliuhqui, the Carved Obsidian Knife, matter before awakening, substance without song. The spark that unites them is Tezcatlipoca, who strikes the flint of consciousness. Together they form a trinity that guards the conditions of life itself: matter, spark, and soul.

But paradise is fragile. Ītzpāpālōtl is the dark sol of Xochiquetzal, Lady of Love and Beauty. When Xochiquetzal disobeyed the cosmic order, she was cast from Mescaline City, the House of the Sol, the place where humanity was first shaped from precious bone and sacred blood. In exile, love shed its innocence. Beauty learned hunger. The moth was born.

Condemned to fly the night, Ītzpāpālōtl became the Lady of War, Self-Sacrifice, and Conflict. Not conquest, but consequence. Not cruelty, but the price of devotion. She is the patron of warriors of conscience. Those who abandon comfort. Those who give their lives not for glory, but for their people, their children, their lovers, their future unborn dark-stars.

She protects those who fight for a just cause. Men and women alike. Those who pour blood on the floor so others may live in blissful ignorance.

In the Flower-Song tradition, Ītzpāpālōtl is not feared. She is sung. She is grief made luminous and the key to dream supreme! Cosmic Love in exile. The sol that refuses to be consumed.

She does not promise peace. She promises the end is also the beginning.
