Why did I choose the name “Suraya”?

Every name has a story behind it… a feeling, an emotion.

“Suraya” is not just a name to me; it is a symbol of my dream and my new journey.

Today, I would like to introduce you to a piece of my dream – my new page, Suraya by Shamon.

For a long time, writing was my safe place. Through my stories and poems on Medium, I found a way to express myself. But over the past few months, I haven’t been writing as much. Life became busy, responsibilities grew, and somehow the words stopped flowing the way they once did.

Yet dreams never truly disappear. Sometimes they simply find a new way to bloom.

For a long time, I searched for a name that would touch my heart, but nothing felt quite right. Then, on Mother’s Day, my mother’s name showed me the way.

Suraya / Thurayya (ثريا) is an Arabic name that means:

✨ A group of stars (The Pleiades)

✨ A bright star in the sky

✨ A symbol of light and beauty

This name comes from the most precious person in my life – my mother, Suraya.

She is no longer with us, but her lessons continue to guide me every day.

My mother taught me how to hold my head high through life’s challenges. She taught me that every woman deserves her own identity and the confidence to stand on her own feet.

She always believed that independence is important for a woman. It is not only about earning money; it is about having the courage to make your own decisions, believing in yourself, and living with dignity and self-respect.

After many years, many struggles, and many dreams, I am creating this little world with love, creativity, and hard work.

Suraya by Shamon is not just a page. It is a tribute to my mother, a reflection of her teachings, and a continuation of the dreams she inspired in me.

With my mother’s love, memories, and blessings in my heart, I begin this new journey.

Welcome to Suraya by Shamon
