What even is a soulmate in the first place?

Many people will say that a soulmate is someone who makes us feel profound connection, it is that special person who we believes are destined to be the other half of us that makes us… complete. That may raises some questions, is the current person that we’re dating or having deep connection is our soulmate? Is the person that makes you feel complete right now is truly the other half we’re destined to meet?

I am the type of person who believes that, a soulmate isn’t merely about finding romantic partner but rather about finding and encountering that deep, unfiltered connection that makes me feel accepted as a person. A connection that transcends time, space, and circumstance, something almost mystical, a feeling that fill myheart like butterflies. It’s not just about the typical love one may experienced, but about understanding and the feeling of being truly seen in a way that is simply impossible to express.

Yet, I often wonder, does searching for a soulmate mean waiting for perfection? I tend to fantasize about that special someone coming to my life at the distant future, but it makes it hard for me to actually feel that true connection with anyone else. The ideal I have built in my mind sometimes overshadows the real people I meet. Maybe that’s the price I have to pay for believing in something so profound. Our expectations can blur reality itself.

But if soulmate is truly meant to be, then wouldn’t the universe reaches it’s hands to bring us together no matter the circumstances? I sometimes wonder if soulmates would recognize each other instantly, or if it’s something that unfolds gradually, like a book where the pages turn themselves at just the right moment.

The search for a soulmate can be both beautiful and painful. It’s the longing for something greater than a fleeting romance, the constant pain of searching for a love that feels like home. Maybe a soulmate isn’t always someone who comes crashing into my life but someone who was always there, waiting for me to notice them.

Sometimes, in the most unexpected moments, a soft feeling occurs, subtle yet also persistent at the same time, it’s like a never-ending melody that hums quietly in the back of my thoughts, a literal personification of an earworm, a fuzzy, soft, little earworm that decides to reside in my thoughts, influencing my heart at the same time. Just a brief exchange and suddenly there’s a quiet hope, a soft curiosity lingers in me. “Could this be something more?” Well I don’t want to name it, but I always find myself wondering if fate has finally set something in motion for me, yet fate won’t made me realize it in the current moment. After everything, could this be the beginning of something real? Or is it just another passing thought?

So, is a soulmate someone we wait for, or is it someone we learn to recognize? And if fate does exist, will it ever lead them to me?

“It’s an extraordinary thing to meet someone who you can bare your soul to, and who’ll accept you for what you are.” Edward Cullen
