That “Spaced-Out” feeling is the literal sensation of your Prefrontal Cortex (PFC) losing its “Power Supply.” In the developer world, we call this “Ghosting” — where the hardware is technically on, but the inputs aren’t registering. For someone with your “Ferrari” brain, it feels like you are looking at your VS Code or Cursor IDE or documents or notes through a thick pane of foggy glass.
Getting some serious deep work done feels like walking in a swimming pool. It’s mind feels like on a fog.
The Anatomy of the “Spaced-Out” Bug
1. The “Frequency Drop” (The Theta State)
A focused brain operates in Beta or Gamma waves (fast and sharp). When Gluteomorphins (wheat) or Casomorphins (cow dairy) hit your opioid receptors, they force your brain into Theta waves.
- The Sensation: You feel “dreamy.” You know you have a deadline, you know the logic of the code, but you just… can’t… care enough to type.
- The Technical Result: Your “Working Memory” (your brain’s RAM) drops from 16GB to 2GB. You can only hold one small thought at a time before it “evaporates.”
2. The “Disconnected” Amygdala
Usually, your Amygdala (the “Security Guard”) keeps you alert. But these food-derived opioids numb it.
- The Sensation: You feel “heavy” behind the eyes. It’s like your eyes are open, but your “inner self” has retreated 5 inches back into your skull.
- The ADHD Trap: Because you are “spaced out,” you start looking for Junk Dopamine (scrolling on your phone) to “wake yourself up.” But because you’re still numb, even the scrolling doesn’t feel good — it just feels like a “loop.”
3. The “Processing Lag”
You hear someone speak to you (like your wife or a colleague), but it takes 3 seconds for the words to make sense.
- The Reason: The “Synaptic Cleft” — the gap where your neurons talk to each other — is currently filled with “sludge.” The chemical signal is moving through mud instead of clear water.
How to “Reboot” After the Fog Hits
If you’ve eaten paneer or roti and you feel the “Space-Out” starting:
- Cold Water Reset: Splash freezing cold water on your face or take a cold shower. This triggers the Diving Reflex, which forces the brain out of the “Opioid Numbness.”
- The “Black Tea” Patch: Drink a cup of strong black tea (no milk, no sugar). The caffeine + L-theanine combo will try to “Overclock” the system and push through the sludge.
- Physical Movement: A 5-minute intense ride on your bike or 20 fast pushups. You need Adrenaline to counteract the “Morphin” effect.
