Feedback early and often…

Your idea is great, it’s grand, it’s something so exciting. However you hit a block of implementation. You know the idea of what you are trying to get, but then you realize that it might not be as easy to implement as you thought. You’ve spent days, weeks, months trying to get it working how you visioned it, but something isn’t clicking.
You are unsure if what you are working on is something great, or not. What do you do? Ask for feedback, ask a friend, a family member, someone online. If you ask, you will get something from it. Maybe it is greater than you imagined, or maybe it isn’t. But with that you can figure out a direction to move.
So what about the other aspects of your game? Ask those around you. Maybe make a video of it and post it online to see what people think.
The thing about feedback is that it is super important. It’s important as it will help guide you to make your game better. If someone doesn’t like what you did, or has a suggestion to make it better, you can take that how you want. It might not make it into this game, but the suggestion could help you with future projects.
Feedback is important at all stages, from idea to implementation to midway through. No matter if you are funding your game yourself, doing crowd funding reach out to someone or your fans. You will gain feedback after you ship your game, you will have people tell you that they like this part and that part, but they didn’t care for that part. It’s totally acceptable and okay to get negative feedback. People love to point out things that they don’t like, don’t believe me? Look on Social Media, case in point. We’ll discuss this later down the road, but try not to dig too much into what someone says. You’ve worked countless hours on this game, you have poured blood, sweat and tears, it’s your baby. Make it grow and develop on its own. Support it in all ways that you can.
There are many parts of game development, but more importantly the features that you have in your game. Feedback will help you clear your vision, give you some insight and make you a better creator. We can’t wait to play your game, we want to be wowed.
