I am losing interest in spending time with people.

What losing interest in hanging out may reveal about your growth, values and well-being.

When I was younger I used to like being around people. I thought conversations and social activities were exciting and meaningful and I loved staying in touch with people. Today however something has changed.

Nowadays I find myself losing interest in spending time with people. Am I becoming antisocial or cold? Actually none of these things describe me.

Sometimes I feel very close to people. The only difference is that nowadays I am finding it more peaceful to be alone than to be with other people.

The truth about spending time versus feeling lonely.

For a lot of people spending time alone means feeling lonely. However these two things are not always the thing.

Loneliness is a feeling that you get when you do not have any connection with other people. Solitude is the act of spending time by yourself. Loneliness drains your energy. Solitude helps to make your mind and body feel better.

As I got older I learned that being alone does not necessarily mean you will feel lonely. In fact a lot of the time solitude helps me to think about my life reconnect with who I am and focus on the things that matter to me like my own growth and well-being and the things that are important, to me like my values.
