A great girl: An Untold Story of Sacrifice and Strength.

Many stories have been heard, seen in films, and read in books. Sometimes we believe them, and sometimes we don’t.

Sometimes, we accept these stories as self-motivation, turn the pages of the book, and move on.

But I know a girl — I have seen her, sat with her for tea, and talked to her.

This is the story of that great girl who set the best example of sacrifice — not just for society, but also within her family and among her friends.

When you read her story, you will be shocked. You will wonder what name to give her — crazy, mad, great, or will you simply remain silent in awe?

As far as I remember, I met her for the first time in 1999. We spoke a little. At that time, we must have been around 15 to 18 years old.

1. A Dream That Seemed Impossible.

She shared her vision, her dreams with me. At that moment, I thought she was just dreaming. I didn’t take her seriously at all.

This is the story of a girl who belonged to a poor family. Her name was Zeb (Note: Zeb is not her real name). She was born in a small village in Bihar. The house she was born in couldn’t even be called a house — it was nothing more than a hut.

2. Zeb’s Early Life Full of Struggles.

Her father was illiterate. He lived in Delhi and, due to a lack of education, got a job in a small factory, from which the household expenses were barely managed. After some time, Zeb’s mother requested her father that they all wanted to live together in Delhi. Initially, her father did not agree, but due to the insistence of the children, he had to agree and took a rented room in Delhi, where the whole family shifted.

3. Zeb’s Journey Towards Self-Reliance.

Zeb was not yet fully mature, but she started giving private tuition to some students at home. She had big dreams but also had family responsibilities. Zeb had two brothers, but they were not very active. Slowly, Zeb started taking complete responsibility for the family on her shoulders.

Zeb’s vision and goals became clear when she opened a rented shop for her two brothers. They were not good at studies but were interested in business. Both brothers’ shops started running well, which improved the family’s financial condition. As soon as the financial situation got better, Zeb built a good house in the village.

Zeb found out that her younger sister liked someone and wanted to get married. She convinced her parents and got her sister married. The parents initially disagreed because the elder daughter, Zeb, was still unmarried. But Zeb assured everyone that it didn’t matter to her.

6. Unexpected Illness Strikes.

Now that the family was stable, she also arranged the marriages of both her younger brothers. This was the perfect time for Zeb to think about her own marriage.

Suddenly, Zeb’s Father became seriously ill and had to be admitted to the hospital. The situation worsened when her test results confirmed tuberculosis (TB) in its last stage.

Despite the critical condition, Zeb didn’t give up and continued treatment till her father’s last breath. However, she couldn’t save him.

7. Another Tragedy Strikes the Family.

Zeb was just coming out of this sorrow when one day, her younger brother’s health started deteriorating. Another challenge awaited her — the medical report was yet to come.

When the report arrived, the entire family was devastated. Zeb’s brother had both kidneys failed and had only a few days left to live.

Zeb met with the doctor, who informed her that a kidney transplant needed to be done as soon as possible.

8. A Difficult Decision.

Zeb had some money, but not enough to buy a kidney. The entire family was in chaos. The next day, Zeb visited the doctor again and made a decision after discussing it.

Zeb decided to donate her own kidney to save her brother’s life. Some people gave Zeb their advice, but she had already made her final decision. Zeb was not afraid; she was a woman of great courage.

9. A Selfless Act of Love.

She donated her kidney to save her brother’s life, got him discharged from the hospital, and brought him home.

A Short-Lived Happiness Unfortunately, this happiness did not last long. Her brother could not survive for many days and left Zeb’s life forever.

10. Taking on New Responsibilities.

Now, Zeb had the responsibility of raising her brother’s children. Time had moved so far ahead that she no longer had the chance to think about herself.

A few days later, her mother started showing signs of old age-related illnesses. She remained unwell, and Zeb had to spend a lot of money on her treatment. Finally, the time came when her mother had to leave. One day, her mother gave Zeb her last wishes and bid her farewell forever.

11. Alone but Not Lonely.

Now, Zeb had one brother and two sisters, all of whom had their own families and were busy in their lives.

The last time I spoke to Zeb, I realized she had adopted her late brother’s children. They were her future, and they were the meaning of the rest of her life.
