Euro 2024: France qualify for the last 16 before facing Poland

The results of Group B on Monday ensured Les Bleus’ qualification for the Round of 16.

Well, it’s official! Les Bleus have qualified for the last 16 of Euro 2024, even before they take on Robert Lewandowski’s Poland in their final group match at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday at 6pm. Monday’s results in Group B ensured qualification. The Spanish side coached by Luis de la Fuente — who used his substitutes — beat Albania 1–0. At the same time, reigning European champions Italy were held to a 1–1 draw by Luka Modric’s Croatia, the competition’s oldest scorer (1–1), in a match with a cruel scenario.

The top and second-placed teams in each group have qualified, while four of the six third-placed teams will also reach the knockout phase. Whatever their result against Poland, France are guaranteed a place in the knockout phase. Their four points from two matches means they are guaranteed to finish ahead of Hungary (3 pts) and Croatia (2 pts). Excellent news for France.
