How to Build Conference Talks using Disney-Pixar’s Creative Process

*Josef Machytka: Speaker portfolio*

This talk shows how technical speakers can adapt key elements of Disney-Pixar’s creative process to design successful conference presentations. The first version is rarely good enough, the final structure is rarely visible at the start, and the story usually emerges through iterations.

Instead of waiting for a perfect bulletproof idea, authors can begin with an incomplete draft, test the core narrative, refine the story step by step, and improve both content and delivery over time. Core idea is: fail fast, fail often, learn from mistakes and iterate.

During this process the author often develops new technical understanding and creates conference talk that is clearer, more coherent, and more valuable for both the audience and the presenter.
