Pay it forward. You’ve heard the phrase. Maybe you’ve seen the movie. Maybe you’ve rolled your eyes at someone using it as a caption on a GoFundMe page while describing their personal crisis in painful detail.

That's not what pay it forward means.

Somewhere along the way, a genuinely beautiful concept got hijacked. People started using it as a polite way to beg. Sad stories, medical emergencies, homeless cats — all wrapped in the language of kindness. The result? People stopped believing in it. YouTube made joke videos about it. The hashtag got buried under sympathy posts.

But the original idea was simple and powerful: someone helps you, you help someone else. No strings. No sob story. Just kindness moving forward.

I want to bring that back. And I'm using math to do it.

The Numbers Don't Lie

There are over 5.66 billion social media users in the world right now. Facebook alone has 3.07 billion. YouTube has 2.85 billion. Instagram has 2.2 billion. TikTok has 1.65 billion.

I’m asking for 6,000 people to donate $1.

That's less than 0.0002% of any major platform. Less than 1% of 1%. A number so small it barely registers as a rounding error against billions of users.

6,000 people. $1 each. $6,000 total. Life-changing for someone like me. Pocket change for you.

The math makes the excuse "I can’t afford it" almost impossible to justify at scale.

This Is Not Begging

I want to be clear. This is not a sympathy post. I'm not going to tell you about my struggles. I'm not asking you to feel sorry for me.

There's a difference between help and a handout. A handout relies on guilt. Help is people choosing to be part of something bigger than themselves because the logic is undeniable.

If you're seeing this, you are part of that fraction. The numbers are so massive that even the tiniest fraction of you showing up makes a huge difference.

Why It Can Work

Begging has a ceiling. People scroll past desperation all day long. Compassion fatigue is real.

But math is different. You can't argue with numbers. When someone stops and thinks "wait, 6,000 people out of 5.66 billion is really less than 1%?" — that's when something shifts.

And if you can't spare a dollar right now? Share this instead. That costs nothing. The algorithm reaches millions. Let's find our 6,000.

Pay It Forward Was Always About This

Not about one person's emergency. Not about guilt. About a chain of small acts that add up to something meaningful.

$1 won't change the world by itself. But 6,000 of them? That's real. And 6,000 people out of 5.66 billion is practically invisible.

Don't scroll past.

Thailand can be a great country. No gray area either you make money selling online or take donations online. No safety net for expats. It isn’t one life it is two I am foreigner living in Thailand married to a Thai. We were already separated once for a year.
