I doubt anyone will read this article, but I don’t care.

I also don’t care if I lose all my followers for speaking my mind on this humanitarian issue.

Lately, I haven’t been reading — much less writing — here since I’ve been too preoccupied writing my dissertation drafts and course papers.

But I cannot put this story and public PROTEST AGAINST THE G#N0C!DE IN GAZA off any longer. (I’ve been conditioned to use characters that won’t get flagged by the censoring system on social media.)

When I’m not swamped by assignments, you might find me scrolling on Instagram, which now almost exclusively brings up posts from or about Gaza due to my algorithmic activity.

I routinely tap on the four icons on my screen and copy/paste long texts, mixed with letters in uppercase, that repeat words like:

“Sabrina Carpenter Taylor Swift Dubai Chocolates,” “Free Gaza,” “Free Palestine,” “Stop the genocide,” “Stop weaponizing food,” “Stop arresting peaceful protesters,” “Shame on the United States of Isra3l,” “Shame on all the other UN countries for their silent complicity,” and “Shame on all mainstream media for their complicity! I will never (re)subscribe.”

And whether I suspect the posts are legit, AI-generated, or potential scams, I repeat that ritual for 10 minutes, which is the usual doom-scroll limit I give myself.

I admit I don’t donate money, because (1) I’m a student on a budget as tight as a tourniquet, and (2) I don’t have a credit card. I also need someone to explain to me how any donations could reach the people in Gaza what with all the infrastructures in their area getting destroyed.

I have also noticed that, on the surface, other people seem to be indifferent to what’s happening in Gaza as I speak. I used to get likes or comments from my followers for all my other posts and shares in the past.

But since I’ve become more actively outspoken about my outrage, I’ve had zero responses and engagement. When I do receive DMs or shared posts from friends and followers who haven’t abandoned me, they are about some random story totally unrelated to Gaza.

Is it just me, or have people just gotten tired of seeing and hearing about the Isra3li Prime Monster Benjamin Nut’n’yahoo’s unrelenting war crimes and the widespread genocide of the Palestinians unfolding every single day for the past two years (if you don’t count the others predating 2023)?

Look, I’m not taking sides based on religion or ethnicity. If the same were happening to Isra3l by belligerent forces in some parallel universe, my alternate-universe-self would be writing a similar post saying “Free Isra3l.”

I get it. Some of us, particularly in the Far East, live on the opposite end of the globe, and nothing in Gaza really affects us on a day-to-day basis. Or we feel we have enough of our own shit to worry about. There’s nothing we can do to really help them.

Somehow, starving Gazans have access to the Internet and can post their pleas for help or support. “Just typing a few words, like ‘jet2holidays’ will make a difference.” Some posts are cinematic, showing landscapes of destruction and the resilience of a starving people fighting to survive. Others straightforwardly ask us to like, share, and donate or risk the wrath of their god.

And still others show a softer but equally alarming side of Palestinian families’ plight, such as that of a single father and his young daughters smiling into the camera cooking porridge in a half-destroyed home. They don’t speak. They just smile and make peace signs.

Their caption reads,

“It would be wonderful if you could join us for dinner.”

Meanwhile, in international waters, Isra3li or American drones are allegedly stalking and bombing the humanitarian flotilla delivering food, water, and medicinal supplies to Gaza.

As of 21 September 2025, contact has been lost with the boat carrying activist Greta Thunberg and other volunteers on the largest known humanitarian mission by sea of this kind to-date. Their support team back home have released pre-recorded videos of Greta saying that the post itself means that her boat has been captured, most likely by Isra3li forces.

Earlier, her boat was also attacked by drones, and Isra3li forces kidnapped the crew of other flotillas. Not all have been released.

This will not be the last post of this kind. I feel helpless and, frankly, hopeless and faithless about humanity.

Let me rephrase that: I am sick of humanity.

That includes me, of course, since I am human, not a sea cucumber.

I sit here, typing on a MacBook, at a comfortably air-conditioned cafe, judging people’s apathy, while not joining the flotilla myself or protesting on the streets of London and getting arrested as a “terr0rist” by coppers under the order of UK’s Darth K3ir Starm3r.

But I can’t give up on the people of Gaza — and Congo and elsewhere.

FREE PALESTINE! STOP THE GENOCIDE!
