A Louisiana woman was arrested Wednesday on 1 count of first-degree murder after the death of a severely injured 8-month-old child, according to the Franklinton Police Department.
Franklinton Police say they were called to Riverside Medical Center regarding an 8-month-old child who suffered from severe, multiple injuries, including both “healing and current broken bones,” WGNO reported.
The child was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, where he died five days later.
The infant’s mother, Autumn Hano Harper, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder.
Police said she made a voluntary statement implicating herself in the boy’s murder.

Franklinton police Chief Justin Brown described the case as “absolutely heartbreaking” and commended the detectives for their work.
“This was a tragic event that will have a long-lasting effect on all involved. Our prayers go out to the family for the loss of this beautiful child,” Brown said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Harper is being held in the Washington Parish jail without bond.
