CEAP asks the new DepEd chief to put education first in the face of Covid

One of the country’s largest groups of Catholic and private schools is hoping that Vice President-elect Sara Duterte will prioritize the issue of a pandemic of coronavirus illness 2019 (Covid-19). There are more than 1,600 educational institutions that are members of CEAP. CEAP’s executive director, Alan Arellano, expects the incoming secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) to help tackle the sector’s difficulties, as stated by CEAP. Although Duterte has denied the promotion of mandatory ROTC, the CEAP official emphasized his willingness to assist in creating policies if it is enacted. “If this becomes part of the curriculum, we will help establish the appropriate ideals that young people should learn to be holy, patriotic, humanitarian, and environmentally friendly,” Arellano added. In response to the concerns of many parties, including religious and youth organizations, Arellano is committed to teaching young people the truth and delivering a lesson that will enhance their judgment always to pick the right.
