Gerunds:

A gerund is the -ing form of a verb used as a noun. A gerund is used as a subject or object (like nouns).

Examples: — Travelling (travelling is a gerund, that is used as the subject of the sentence) is a good hobby.

— I love travelling during summer holidays (travelling is a gerund and is used as the object of the verb love).

— He amuses himself by travelling (travelling is a gerund used as the object of the preposition by).

Gerunds as Objects of Prepositions:
