As promised in my last article, I am going to expand on comparison between the Conscious Design using Chakra system and other UX methodologies in this article.

This is only tip of the iceberg and not an exhaustive list of all the properties of the stated methods.

Conscious Design vs. Other UX Methodologies

While Conscious Design shares common ground with other UX methodologies, it also offers unique perspectives:

Contextual Design: Both Conscious Design and contextual design emphasize understanding the user’s context. However, contextual design primarily focuses on observing users in their natural environment to understand their work practices and needs8. Conscious Design expands this perspective by considering the broader social, ethical, and environmental context in which the user exists. It also places a greater emphasis on the emotional and psychological aspects of the user experience.

Lean Design: Lean design focuses on maximizing value by eliminating waste and streamlining processes. While Conscious Design also values efficiency, it goes beyond simply reducing waste to consider the qualitative aspects of the user experience and the long-term impact of design choices. It also prioritizes ethical considerations and user well-being, which may not always be the primary focus in lean design.

Agile Design: Agile design prioritizes flexibility, collaboration, and iterative development. Conscious Design can be integrated into an agile workflow by incorporating conscious design principles into each iteration and ensuring that user feedback is considered not only for functionality but also for ethical and social impact. This means that while Agile focuses on delivering working software quickly, Conscious Design within an Agile framework ensures that the software is also ethical, sustainable, and contributes to user well-being.
