That’s probably the grooviest line I’d ever hear from any music artiste; it connects with my body, spirit, soul and mind.

Show Dem Camp! Legends and Pioneers in the Nigerian alte scene. For those just knowing about them, SDC is a Nigerian rap duo composed of Tec (Wale Davies) and Ghost (Olumide Ayeni).

A little backstory on how they met- before coming together to form SDC, they were solo rap artists, who met at a rap battleground; they found out they had the same stage name, ‘Golden Child’, and the rest they say is history.

My first contact with SDC was in 2020, through their ‘Do Me Nice’ music video featuring bnxn fka buju, but the innate connection was through their song, ‘That Year’. The song reached the deepest part of my being, and at that moment, I knew they were meant to be my favourite.

Away from their music, they serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration to me. One would wonder who leaves a sane environment and come to Nigeria to start rapping…but they did. They could have gone the easy route; Tec studied Business Marketing and Law, while Ghost studied International Business. If they defied all odds, I know for sure that I can.

Chappies and Pies, SDC slang for guys and ladies

SDC music comes in two forms: The Clone Wars series (Clone Wars Vol.1, Clone Wars Vol. 2, Clone Wars Vol.3, Clone Wars Vol.4-These Buhari Times, and Clone Wars Vol.5- The Algorhythm), and The PalmWine Music series (PalmWine Music, PalmWine Music 2, The PalmWine Express, and PalmWine Music 3).

The Clone Wars series is majorly about the travails of Nigerians, while Palmwine music gives a more groovy feel.

If you are a lover boy or girl, Show Dem Camp has more than enough bars for you. There’s one that makes me go crazy, ‘Your beauty had Olodumare in His bag’- one of Tec’s line from Mine Alone ft. Oxlade.
