DevHelper 2.0.0 is here

If you are a Software Developer, Busines Analysis, Project Manager or somebody that like working with Software Developers, and are tired of paying subscriptions for different tools, or even using a bunch of tools, each good for one thing, but you use 10% of the features in each, look no further.

I am giving you my latest creation, DevHelper v2.0, a tool that combines all the tools you may use on a daily basis in a single desktop app, and its 100% free, no even ads, no subscriptions nothing, its something I have been working on for 5+ years and am using it on a daily basis, and this is the third iteration of the app, so in the following text i will give you the full history of the app, all the features and the plans, and take my word its 100% free, no ads no secret data gathering, its something i want to share, and if you have free $ to spare, feel free to donate via my buymeacoffe page that you can find in the app.
How it all started
It all started in 2019, I was working at one company where we had a messy swager and needed help to trigger some endpoint easily so we can get otp codes, delete test users and data and similar, so i have decided to try to make some memu tray app in Swift, with literally 0 experience in Swift, no help of AI just curiosity, and after few weeks i got my first MVP of the dev helper written in Swift working, and you can even get the full sorce code here:

Nowdays anybody can create something similar with few prompts, but backthen there was no help of AI.
After i have shown this app to few colleagues they loved it, and I suddenly have 10 people using it, and somebody told me “why dont you make chrome extension so it can be used on any platform” — so i felt in love with the idea, and after some research i have decided to go with full cross platfor rewrite and not a chrome extension, and my pick was Electron, which was also unknown teritory for me, so that is how i started workin on DevHelper v1.0.
The first version had just the tray menu, like the Swift one, but this time it was configurable so you can create a tree of nested menus and items, and can either run a shell command, like run or build your project, or quickly open some link in the browser like the jira board or the daily. I have worked on it for 6 months, and when i finaly had it and wanted to publish it on the stores, i got stuck with certificates, code signing stuf … so after few more month I have decided this is furthest i can go, and continued using the app on daily basis.
DevHelper v2.0
It all worked great, untill one day, few years after i finished v.1.0, when suddenly after one MacOS update the app stoped working, and since i was dependent on it, since i was using it on a daily basis, I have decided to rewrite it from scratch with the latest electron version, because upgrading electron failed, because the code hasnt been touched in few years.
Here I had some help of AI, so I have managed to rewrite the app into a new project really fast, it took me like 2 weeks or something like that to have all the old features working, and after that i have started addin some new ones.
First new feature was to add a UI layer to the app, and a setting UI app where the user can edit the menu configuration with clicking instead or typing the json configuration. Then i decided i can add some apps that i use on daily basis like json formatter, notes app, and finally a flowChart diagram maker where i can easily make diagram for internal documentations. After all this was done, i have noticed that i have extended the app so much, and maybe it will be nice if i expose some APIs and implement extensions like VSCode has, so anybody can create extensions, and this took me few month to finish, because I had no idea from where to even start.
After all this was done, I decided to give the stores deployment one more try, and after few more month struggling i was able to make all work, and decided to make one three month experiment, to see if this app can make some money. I have put it on both stores for price of 1.99$, and in three months i have managed to earn ~6$, so obviously the product was either not worh money, or i needed to invest to promote it, so i have picked third option to release the source code for free.
The source code was avaliable untill some time ago, before i have decided to give one more upgrade to the app, and althought it could have been a good idea to call it DevHelper v.3.0, I called it DevHelper v.2 2.0.0, version 2 of DevHelper 2 :D, little bit messy but I like it, and there is plan for 3.0, but my plan is if I decide to rewrite the app in Rust (Tauri), that version to be 3.0, and this is just refinment of the 2.0
The new version has new and fresh looks:

It has, backup management where you can backup all the data locally, and restore to some previous version, or store all the data on the servers:

It has new extensions, before we had things like:
- Storage Cleaner (Clean My Mac like)
- Clipboard Manager
- Stopwatch
Now we have, Apily (POSTMAN alternative):

Terminal:

And lot more, and bare in mind the source code of all the extensions I made is open, so anybody can see it, and use them as starting point and make something much better.
And here is our latest app, which is to me the best new feature, and that is the Wireframe Creator:

Its litteraly a liteweight full features figma alternative, with:
- mobile app and web templates
- a lot of ui elements
- interactive prototype with clicking scrolling and lot more
- shorcuts for rapid development
- and a lot more
So all this 100% free of charge, and with your help the app can become much bigger than it currently is.
If you want to try it, you can download the MacOS version from my website, Apple Silicone or Intel, and in the upcomming weeks i will try to make Windows and Linix build too.
