Why Quantile99 exists

There is a common experience that doesn’t get discussed very often.

Some people spend years feeling slightly out of place without really being able to explain why.

We have friends, careers, relationships and normal lives.

Yet conversations often feel unsatisfying in a way that’s difficult to describe. Discussions seem to never become interesting. Topics that could go to the edge of the universe, that is if there even is an edge, ends right at eye-level. Questions that feel obvious never get asked, and questions that actually seem fascinating are met with blank stares.

There is simply a mismatch.

Many people eventually discover that they consistently get along best with the same type of person. Not necessarily people with the same background, politics, profession, or even interests. In many cases they have almost nothing in common on paper.

What they share is a certain style of thinking.

Personally I love when my assumptions are challenged while the friendship stands as strong as ever, ideas are examined from every angle, directness is appreciated rather than interpreted as hostility and curiosity is treated as normal rather than excessive. That’s where I thrive and I know I’m not the only one!

I believe we will experience social media and our social lives better together.

• Communication becomes easier
• Misunderstandings become less frequent
• Complex ideas require less translation
• The conversation itself becomes rewarding

Many people on social media say they’ve been experiencing this after joining communities for intellectually gifted individuals. Regardless of whether they agree with each other, they often find that discussions contain less friction and more substance than they are accustomed to elsewhere.

The problem is that there are surprisingly few places designed around this experience.

Organizations such as MENSA, Intertel, and TNS provide valuable opportunities for connection, but they were not designed as modern social platforms. Most online interaction today happens on platforms built for the general population, where thoughtful discussion competes with endless streams of content, outrage, advertising, and distraction.

Quantile99 was created to explore a simple idea: What would happen if there were a platform designed specifically for people who enjoy high-engagement, high-curiosity conversations?

What’s wrong with Facebook and Reddit?

We’ve all been there and if you have a high IQ you have noticed most forums, groups and subreddits are dumpsters of depressed people who enjoy social control while having very narrow world views. I have created a place where people can discover one another, form communities, exchange ideas, and build friendships without having to sift through overwhelming amounts of noise. Where you can be private or public as much as you want within the Q99 website/app, ask or tell things without constantly being degraded by people who loves power and actually have constructive social media experiences.

My goal is connection, not exclusivity.

For many people, the most surprising part of discovering intellectually similar peers is realizing how many people have quietly been having the exact same experience all along!
