What’s Being Built at IILM…and a Secret Room Most Don’t Know About!

I have been at IILM University, Greater Noida, for about three months, I’ve come across some interesting things on campus that I just had to share! My curiosity got the best of me, and I did a little digging around. The last part of this article is the most surprising — don’t miss it!

If you’ve been around campus recently, you’ve probably seen the new barricade that went up near the basketball court, close to the Admissions Block and right in front of the CET Girls Hostel. This happened around Diwali 2024, and everyone’s wondering what’s being built there.

Is It a New Boys’ Hostel?

The rumor going around is that a new boys’ hostel is being built behind that barricade. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, it seems likely. IILM has a history of adding hostels whenever the student numbers grow.

Back in 2013, IILM constructed a group of four hostels near the IGSM Building, including Ashoka, Rosewood, Gulmohar, and Silveroak. You can see the area from above by comparing satellite images from 2009 and 2013:

The hostels were designed by lead architects Sonali Rastogi and Manit Rastogi of the BMSF Design Consultants Pvt. Ltd. firm. Here is a link to the designs and pictures of the newly built hostels:

Then, in 2015, IILM built the CET Girls Hostel near the Admissions Block, with the CET Boys Hostel on the other side.Here’s how that area looked in 2012 and 2015:

What’s Happening Near the Programme Office?

You may have noticed two buildings near the Programme Office that have been under construction since this semester started.

Here’s what I’ve found out: one of them is being renovated/reconstructed to become the new Law building (1 in the map) for law classes.

The other one is still a bit of a mystery(2 In Map).

But here’s an interesting fact — both buildings were already here before 2009.

So why the construction? IILM wants to update the look of these buildings to match the rest of campus. Swami Vivekananda Hall (SVH) had a similar renovation done recently to bring it up to the new IILM standard. And here’s where it gets even more interesting…

The Secret Room in SVH

Did you know there’s a hidden room in SVH that most people don’t know about? I’m not sure if students are allowed in, but here’s what I discovered. In the ground-floor reading room in SVH, there’s an entrance to an underground room. If you go into the reading room and walk to the far-left corner, you’ll see a staircase that leads you down to this hidden space.

Once you’re inside, you can feel the history of the building — it’s a part of IILM that hasn’t been renovated like the rest of SVH. It’s like stepping into a piece of IILM’s past, tucked away and hidden from view.

A Few interesting facts about IILM that you might not know!

1.Sai Mandir on the Ground: The Sai Mandir on campus wasn’t actually completed until around 2016. It’s now a peaceful spot many of us like to visit.

2.The Full Form of IILM: IILM stands for “Institute for Integrated Learning in Management.” It started out focused on management courses but has since added a lot of different programs like engineering, law, and more.

3.The Founder of IILM: “Dr. Kulwant Rai” is the founder of IILM. You can actually see his picture in the common area of Swami Vivekananda Hall (SVH). Among the three photos there, he’s the one on the far right.
