The Reclaiming of Harleen Ivy: A Survivalist’s Story

My interview with Ottawa-based companion and erotic massage expert **Harleen Ivy **was my first foray into the fascinating world of in-person companionship, and in the time I’ve spent reviewing her professional journey, I couldn’t help but be moved by a level of radical honesty that is both refreshing and rare.

Harleen’s history in the industry began at the age of 16 — a time when she was a victim of trafficking, controlled by a “manager/boyfriend.”

It is a heavy truth, but one Harleen carries with a defiant clarity!

For Harleen, the industry isn’t something she needs to be “saved” from; rather, it is a space she chose to re-enter as an adult, on her own terms, to build a life of independence.

“One thing I would like to see is for people to stop lumping us together with sex trafficking victims. I myself am both, I got started in this industry at 16 and had a BF/”manager,” Harleen tells me in a moment of stunning reflection.

“As I got older I got back into (it) for myself. There is a huge difference but many people who aren’t in this industry at all lump us together and think we all need to be ‘saved’, (and) that’s something I hope changes in the future,” adds a candid Harleen.

Since March 2025, Harleen has operated as a newly independent professional, and in an industry where performers often hide behind elaborate personas to protect their “civvie” lives, Harleen has opted for a “Mirror” strategy.

Aside from the name, she is simply herself!

“I don’t know if I’m offering anything clients can’t get elsewhere to be honest, (but) I know that I am authentic,” Harleen tells me.

“Some people in this industry have a persona and such when they are working completely different from who they are in their civvie lives. Myself, other than the name, am just me.

“Personally, it’s far too taxing mentally and physically to be someone else when dealing with clients. It may hinder me financially or it may help, I have yet to really know, but its what’s best for me. If they don’t like who I am that’s ok, we can’t be everyone’s cup of tea, looks or personality,” adds Harleen.

This authenticity extends to her specialty: the erotic massage, in a digital age where physical touch is increasingly scarce.

However, building this fortress hasn’t been without its logistical hurdles.

Like the content creators who face “extinction events” on social media, Harleen contends with the shifting sands of platforms like X, where mass suspensions make visibility a constant struggle.

To help overcome some of these industry hurdles, Harleen has integrated herself into the **Ottawa Independent Companions (OIC)**, a movement for communal sovereignty, ensuring that while she works for herself, she isn’t working in a vacuum.

The Horizon: FMTY and Beyond

As she looks toward the future, Harleen is eyeing the “Fly Me To You” (FMTY) market and upcoming tours, with British Columbia sitting at the top of her agenda.

For Harleen, the draw of a new market isn’t just about profit — it’s about safety, beauty, and the continued education of a woman who is still “learning” the depths of her own independence.
