The Palm Beach Post, 4/3/1996

During the 80s and 90s in Florida’s Palm Beach, Donald Trump was neighbors with a New Age physics “research” organization connected to some of the same occult-conspiratorial tendencies which would later surface in QAnon and other esoteric-Trumpist lore. Although this organization peddled sub-Weinstein (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j86WIfRfPDk) tier pseudo-physics geared towards developing a “Theory of Everything” which would prove a new, mystical conception of the universe, they had remarkable success (seemingly based on large amounts of money of undetermined origin) in cozying up to the physics community around the University of Miami’s Center for Theoretical Studies, led by Einstein disciple Behram Kursunoglu. They were called Alpha Omega Research Foundation, and their base of operations was a lavish mansion only a quarter of a mile away from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago.

First of all, let me explain how I found this. In my last article (https://medium.com/@yhly2f/untold-qanon-origins-wikileaks-the-magic-mirror-and-the-abyss-7953ee3088d4), I identified what appeared to be an early instance of the QAnon meme “The Plan” on the website of futurist Jacque Fresco’s utopian The Venus Project, which gained prominence in the late 2000s alt-media and protest culture in connection with Peter Joseph’s Zeitgeist films. I also observed that Jacque Fresco had been a member of Technocracy, Inc., the same futurist movement Elon Musk’s grandfather was in.

While continuing to investigate this connection between Technocracy, Inc. and The Venus Project (TVP), I found a site mentioning an individual named Millard Deutsch who was involved in the creation of TVP: https://designing-the-future.org/masterminding-eden-the-venus-project-and-ufos-on-july-2025/. Deutsch’s name appears on the Florida corporate filings for Diverse City, Inc. (which seems to have been the original corporate entity for TVP) along with Fresco and partner Roxanne Meadows, as well as in the credits to the 1994 film The Venus Project: The Redesign of a Culture (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HTyW5ifQXk) and in Fresco’s book The Best That Money Can’t Buy: Beyond Politics, Poverty and War from 2002 (https://thezeitgeistmovement.se/files/Books/The-Best-That-Money-Cant-Buy.pdf).

This was significant because I had been looking for any esoteric or New Age influences on TVP, and Deutsch claimed that he was the one who came up with the name “The Venus Project” and that he had named it after the book Stranger at the Pentagon by Frank Stranges, about an alien named Valiant Thor from the planet Venus (https://amzn.eu/d/hsAKuoB). “Aliens from Venus” is a common theme in movements derived from Theosophy, and I had already begun to strongly suspect that “The Plan” from QAnon was the same “The Plan” from theosophist Alice Bailey’s Lucis Trust: https://www.lucistrust.org/the_great_invocation, https://www.lucistrust.org/the_great_invocation/history_1, https://archive.org/details/TheExternalizationOfTheHierarchyBailey. Critic of the New Age movement, Constance Cumbey, had identified “The Plan” as a primary unifying theme of that movement back in the early 80s (https://archive.org/details/CumbeyConstanceAPlannedDeception1986).

Millard Deutsch published several books on Amazon before his death in 2025, and one of them was I AM ALPHA OMEGA: E.T. Physics, Proclamation of the Law of One, a new Theory of Everything (TOE), and Forgiveness are the keys to the Golden Age (https://a.co/d/5evWVEq). Here, Deutsch tells of his involvement with Alpha Omega Research Foundation of Palm Beach, FL, founded in 1981 by retired engineer Ed Bacinich. When I found the corporate filings for Alpha Omega on Florida’s Department of Corporations website (https://dos.fl.gov/sunbiz/), I was surprised to find it registered at 1048 S Ocean Blvd, an address only 3 blocks away from Mar-a-Lago (which Trump purchased in 1985). This is the address of the mansion owned by Ed and Maria Bacinich.

Millard Deutsch seems to have served the same purpose for Alpha Omega Research Foundation as he did for The Venus Project (TVP), which was to produce their initial media offerings. He wrote that he helped Ed produce the only book Alpha Omega ever put out, The New Physics of Symmetrical Energy Structures. Similarly, for TVP he helped create the initial books, articles and films that updated Fresco’s previous “Sociocyberneering” concept from the 70s as “The Venus Project”.

The New Physics of Symmetrical Energy Structures can be obtained used from Amazon, and the publisher listed in the book immediately stands out: “Palmer Publications, Inc. PO Box 296, Amherst, WI 54406”. Raymond Palmer was an influential sci-fi publisher during the 1940s. Significantly, he helped establish the genre of “mystical” UFO stories. Palmer is most famous for the ARG-like “Shaver mysteries”, in which the delusions of a paranoid schizophrenic, Richard Shaver, were published in Palmer’s magazines as credible truths (https://tellersofweirdtales.blogspot.com/2018/03/the-shaver-mystery-part-one.html, https://tellersofweirdtales.blogspot.com/2022/04/the-lost-world-of-lemuria.html). Although Palmer himself died a few years before the Alpha Omega book was published, the fact that it was published using his company, evidently as some kind of private print run, is very interesting.

The Silver Legion or Silver Shirts formed the original membership base of the cult known as the I AM Activity (http://www.tyob.info/public/archived_sites/users.on.net/~thefirstbruce/Ballards/PsyDict.pdf), which turns up everywhere in QAnon origins research. Millard Deutsch also repeatedly referred to the associated concept of the “I AM presence” in his writing.

Although Deutsch published that in 2018, he was involved with New Age beliefs since he apparently got turned on during his time spent living in Laurel Canyon (yeah) in the late 60s, where he was friends with the band Three Dog Night. This is stated in the obituary of Deutsch published by the pretend “space nation” he was a citizen of, Asgardia, led by Russian military-industrial entrepreneur Igor Ashurbeyli (https://trap.org.ua/en/publications/yevrolihvo-zaharbnyka-iak-ideoloh-rosiyskoho-ppo-pidkoriuie-kosmos-ta-zahrozhuie-yevropi/), which Deutsch became involved with during the later years of his life in retirement in North Carolina. Ed Bacinich, the lead “physicist” of Alpha Omega Research Foundation, shared similar New Age interests. He was a director of something called The Psychosynthesis Foundation of Florida, Inc.

Psychosynthesis is a form of “transpersonal” psychology, considered to be part of the Human Potential movement: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transpersonal_psychology, and which even shows connections to the movement for gifted education (http://www.giftededpress.com/GEPQSPRING1989.pdf, bottom of second paragraph. That’s the same organization Bacinich was involved with. Also note the involvement of Alexis DuPont DeBie, a member of the elite DuPont family.) It was created by Roberto Assagioli, who served in the 1920s as Italian director of Alice Bailey’s Lucis Trust (https://www.equip.org/articles/visualization-part-one/). Psychosynthesis also uses the “I AM” concept:

So, if you’re familiar with my previous writing or any other deep QAnon origins research, you already know what we’re dealing with here. And these guys were based right down the street from Trump. Could this be the origin of the entire esoteric Trump mythos, and perhaps also a clue to Trump’s recruitment by “someone”?

First of all, who was Ed Bacinich? Although Millard Deutsch’s writing comes off as variously childish, insane, sexually perverse / misogynistic and certainly not believable, I was able to validate many of the claims he made about Bacinich and Alpha Omega. Bacinich’s obituary states that he was an engineer who worked on the Titan ICBM system and then ran his own engineering firm in Chicago, before deciding to “retire” at the age of 50 and move to Palm Beach to start the Alpha Omega Research Foundation.

I’m not sure if I believe he really worked on the Titan ICBM, and if he did it may not have been in as highly technical a role as the claim suggests. His physics work is eccentric (I would say it looks completely fraudulent, but I’m not a physicist), and Deutsch describes how Bacinich would basically “channel” or receive his physics ideas in flashes of pure insight, or that they would come to him in his sleep. To me, this suggests he may have been receiving them from a handler, or that it was a con-man act. The quote by Juliette deMarcellus in the obituary above even makes it sound like he was practicing some kind of hypnosis on people. Is somebody a good physicist if after listening to them lecture, people feel like their memory has been erased and replaced with a “marvelous feeling of revelation”? The picture painted of Bacinich is closer to a guru or psychic than a physicist, and I could not find a single instance of anyone bothering to make a scientifically-rigorous critique or explication of his theories. Juliette deMarcellus wrote a number of fluff articles about Alpha Omega that appeared in the Palm Beach Daily News, and she was herself a board member of Alpha Omega Research Foundation. Her byline even appears on the same page as the story about Trump buying Mar-a-Lago.

Despite such reminders of the utter, vexing proximity of Trump to all this, I found no evidence of Trump interacting with anyone from Alpha Omega Research Foundation. Though, Alpha Omega managed an impressive degree of engagement with the legitimate physics community, including physicists who would have been persons of interest to an intelligence operation targeting American nuclear science.

Their primary contact in academic physics was Behram Kursunoglu. Kursunoglu, a student of Albert Einstein, had founded the University of Miami’s Center for Theoretical Studies in the 60s with help from Robert Oppenheimer and used it to launch the Coral Gables or “Orbis Scientiae” physics conferences. In the late 70s, Kursunoglu spun off his own non-profit entity, Global Foundation, Inc. Other physicists involved were Arnold Perlmutter and Stephan L. Mintz. By 1999, Kursunoglu and Perlmutter both somehow ended up on the board of Alpha Omega Research Foundation.

It’s hard to understand how Kursunoglu could justify associating with someone like Bacinich, to the point of joining the board of his embarrassingly fake physics organization. I don’t want to suggest Kursunoglu was knowingly participating in anything nefarious, and I can’t know his motivations or what he truly thought about Alpha Omega.

I guess Alpha Omega represented themselves as eccentric philanthropists interested in funding physics. But, after the launch of the Global Foundation in the late 70s, the conferences put on by Kursunoglu and the Center for Theoretical Studies had begun to cover more than physics and expanded to feature a variety of “global” issues. Most prominent among these seems to have been nuclear energy. Among the papers presented at the 1995 conference, Economics and Politics of Energy, was the following by Philip G. While Alpha Omega does not appear as a sponsor in the proceedings from this 1995 conference, they do in the 1996 Neutrino Mass, Dark Matter, Gravitational Waves, Monopole Condensation, and Light Cone Quantization and also in the 1994 conference, Unified Symmetry: In the Small and in the Large. In 1977, the foundation’s first conference, the International Scientific Forum on an Acceptable Nuclear Energy Future of the World, was attended by leading figures, including Teller, Bethe, Nikolai Basov, Eugene Wigner, and Hofstadter, and many participants from government and private corporations. In 1979, Behram led a delegation consisting of Teller, Wigner, Bethe, and Hofstadter to testify, before the US House Committee on Science and Technology, on the use of nuclear energy and the Three Mile Island reactor accident.

In 1983, under Behram’s directorship, the Center for Theoretical Studies inaugurated a groundbreaking course, Nuclear War/Nuclear Peace, at the University of Miami. According to Millard Deutsch, Alpha Omega Research Foundation made contact with Kursunoglu and Perlmutter some time in the late 80s. Independent of that, the first evidence I see of them interacting is in the mid 90s when Alpha Omega starts to appear as a sponsor of the Global Foundation conferences. At least once, in 1994, they even threw a big party at the Bacinich mansion and invited the physicists who were in town to attend that year’s conference. At the 1994 party, the featured guest was Edward Teller.

At the 1999 Coral Gables conference, I see the only instance where Alpha Omega appears to have invited their own guest: Murray Gell-Mann of the Sante Fe Institute, which has its own deep connections to American nuclear science and the Manhattan Project. Gell-Mann was also one of the primary targets of Jeffrey Epstein’s entryism into the world of science. Epstein had a mansion in Palm Beach since 1990 at 358 El Brillo Way, and it’s impossible to ignore the similarity between the science-related activities of Epstein (which picked up around the time Alpha Omega’s tapered off) and those of Alpha Omega Research Foundation. Interesting as well that Epstein bought his Zorro Ranch in New Mexico, evidently to get close to Gell-Mann (https://america2.news/part-one-just-what-was-jeffrey-epstein-doing-in-santa-fe/), and also bought property in Palm Beach during the same period in the early 90s. However, this singular occasion involving Gell-Mann is the closest thing I could find to a link between Epstein and Alpha Omega. Also interesting is that this conference was sponsored by Lady Blanka Rosenstiel, a Polish-American philanthropist in Miami and Palm Beach. Her husband, Lewis Rosenstiel, was a friend of Roy Cohn and a scandal regarding Lewis’ will is what led to Cohn being disbarred shortly before his death (https://www.nytimes.com/1976/06/13/archives/ruling-due-soon-on-status-of-cohn-in-rosenstiel-will.html). I can’t even speculate on what this might mean as it pertains to Alpha Omega, but it is interesting that Cohn, mentor of Donald Trump, was made famous by his role in the most prominent event in Cold War nuclear espionage: the Rosenberg trial.

While Blanka Rosenstiel was Honorary Consul to the Republic of Poland, Ed Bacinich’s wife Maria was Honorary Consul to Slovenia. Millard Deutsch claimed the Baciniches’ money came from Maria, and that she was the heiress to a German scientist who helped invent plastic. I can’t believe anything Deutsch says without proof, but there’s nothing in Ed’s career that would have given them the money to live the lifestyle they were living in Palm Beach while funding physics conferences on the side. Furthermore, the corporate records for Alpha Omega Research Foundation, Inc. show Maria as its president and not Ed.

So, the two most prominent scientists appearing to be courted by Alpha Omega through their parties and conference sponsorships were Edward Teller and Murray Gell-Mann. It may not be a coincidence that both men were involved with the secretive JASON military science advisory board during the 1960s (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JASON_(advisory_group), https://isgp-studies.com/jason-group-national-security-science). Gell-Mann was protested during a visit to Europe in 1972 due to the participation of the JASON advisors in developing automated weapons systems for the war in Vietnam (https://archive.scienceforthepeople.org/vol-4/v4n6/european-confrontation-jason/).

Any scientists involved with JASON would have been high-priority targets of Russian espionage, not only for their privileged technical and operational knowledge, but as part of the propaganda battle over the hearts and minds of the scientific community (https://america2.news/donald-trump-isnt-the-first-presidential-candidate-groomed-by-the-kgb/). Both were also connected to the Manhattan Project. Teller worked for the Manhattan Project himself, while Gell-Mann co-founded the Santa Fe Institute, which represents a continuation and diversification of the work of Los Alamos National Laboratories.

Alpha Omega Research Foundation also demonstrated a pattern of interest in physicists who were personally connected to Albert Einstein. Along with Kursunoglu, Millard Deutsch wrote of contact with two other students of Einstein: Carl Leissler and Robert Sarbacher. Deutsch’s account makes Leissler sound like he was some kind of handler for Deutsch and may have been lying about knowing Einstein. I could only find an obituary confirming Leissler died in Florida in 1992, and no other information about him. Deutsch wrote that Sarbacher was on the board of Alpha Omega, but Sarbacher died in 1986 and Florida doesn’t provide online copies of corporate records prior to 1995, so I haven’t confirmed this. But, Sarbacher did die in Palm Beach and I found confirmation for Deutsch’s other claims of engagement with specific scientists, so I consider it likely true.

Sarbacher is especially interesting since he is featured in some very deep UFO lore, the kind involving characters like Nikola Tesla and Thomas Townsend Brown (https://www.ttbrown.com/robert-sarbacher-ufo/, https://journal.com.ph/a-student-of-einstein-dead-aliens-and-a-high-order-of-classification/, https://www.nicap.org/smith/Stanton%20Friedman%20-%20Robert%20Sarbacher%20Interview%20-%201983%20_%20Presiden.pdf). A well-known “disclosure” accredited to Sarbacher is a letter he wrote in 1983 from an address in Palm Beach (https://www.sunrisepage.com/roswell/files/witnesses/1983_Letter_from_Sarbacher,_Dr_Robert.pdf). I’m not sure whether Sarbacher actually wrote that or any of the other UFO-related things attributed to him, but the presence of Alpha Omega Research Foundation probably had something to do with that letter.

All of this brings to mind the story of Donald Trump’s uncle John and scientist Nikola Tesla. John Trump investigated Tesla’s papers after his death: https://washingtonspectator.org/wide-angle-nuclear-blackmail/, although I think it is misstated in the Washington Spectator article since John Trump’s analysis of Tesla’s papers seems to have been over concerns regarding their military applications irrespective of the specific deal with AMTORG trading company (wherein the Soviets had tried to purchase Tesla’s designs for an ultimate defensive weapon which would end warfare: https://www.pbs.org/tesla/ll/ll_wendwar.html), which it’s not clear was ever fulfilled. Nevertheless, the point here is the Soviet interest in Tesla’s inventions, combined with Telsa’s connection to Trump and the possible perception, however poorly-conceived, that Donald Trump could still have access to some of Tesla’s valuable secrets, which the Soviets had in fact paid for and thus may have felt entitled to or compelled to acquire in one way or another. In a way, it’s the same flawed logic which would explain Alpha Omega Research Foundation’s interest in students of Einstein.

While we can plainly see the interest Alpha Omega Research Foundation had in Einstein students, I found no evidence of them interacting with Trump. Deutsch never mentioned Trump in his writing, and he didn’t seem to have the ability to keep quiet about things like that, so I can imagine that at least he never participated in or knew of any such interaction. Regardless, I imagine there must have been some contact between Trump and the Baciniches, even if incidental, via the Palm Beach social scene. Despite saying nothing about Trump, Deutsch did have a lot to say about Nikola Tesla and even published a screenplay about him in 1988.

Trump himself began discussing nuclear arms control in interviews during the mid 80s (https://web.archive.org/web/20160316102601/https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1984/11/15/donald-trump-holding-all-the-cards-the-tower-the-team-the-money-the-future/8be79254-7793-4812-a153-f2b88e81fa54/, https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2016/03/trumps-nuclear-experience.html), and he would mention his uncle John (the one who reviewed Tesla’s papers), who had instilled in him a sense of the dangers of nuclear war (https://www.nytimes.com/1984/04/08/magazine/the-expanding-empire-of-donald-trump.html). While this has been speculated to be evidence of an early phase of Trump’s recruitment by Russia, such speculation has always lacked clarity in terms of explaining the definite origin and nature of such recruitment.

Whether Trump’s connection to Tesla had anything to do with the decision to purchase the 1048 S Ocean Blvd property near Mar-a-Lago in the first place is another unknown, although Trump first became interested in Mar-a-Lago during early 1982 and that property was purchased by the Baciniches in late 1982.

If Alpha Omega Research Foundation was an intelligence operation (and it’s hard for me to imagine what else it could have been), the interest in Kursunoglu, Sarbacher, Teller and Gell-Mann suggests an operation which lacked knowledge of (or access to) the actual important targets in American science during the 80s. The interest in Einstein students seems to have been based on the perception of him as a genius who could have passed on valuable (and even magical) secrets, and Teller and Gell-Mann were of interest because of their connections to the Manhattan Project and JASON.

Some of these concerns were already decades out of date by the time Alpha Omega began to have any success getting into the Coral Gables conferences in the mid 90s, and others were poorly-founded to begin with. But, that’s nothing unusual in the muddled world of spy operations. After all, the people running such operations aren’t physicists themselves. And what I’m trying to say here is that this gives me the impression that Alpha Omega Research Foundation was an operation run by spies, not physicists (even of the eccentric, amateur variety).

I can imagine a long-running, low-intensity operation (or series of operations) that probably changed its tactics and immediate objectives over time, but had roots as early as the Manhattan Project itself, and which could have had a general goal of developing someone who might be described as a “Q Clearance Patriot”, who would be willing to deliver American nuclear secrets as part of a “deal” to help prevent war. And, like the activities of the Rosenbergs, the involvement with whose prosecution damned Trump mentor Roy Cohn in the eyes of an entire generation, no good liberal could even fault someone with such motivations. As the physicists initially targeted by such an operation shuffled off to their Florida retirement homes and died, perhaps someone else (someone dumber and easier to manipulate than a nuclear physicist) could have stepped up to fill the role.

The property at 1048 S Ocean Blvd is up for sale (list price $24 million: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1048-S-Ocean-Blvd-Palm-Beach-FL-33480/46846755_zpid)/, but its current owner is Rank Properties Holdings, Inc., a company whose only listed director is Maria Bacinich. Public records from Palm Beach County (https://pbcpao.gov/index.htm) show that it was sold to an offshore company, Rank Properties SA, in 1994, which was merged into the domestic Rank Properties Holdings, Inc. in 2022. It was originally purchased by Ed and Maria Bacinich in 1982 through a separate off-shore company, Universal Cemco NV. I’m not sure how long the Baciniches actually lived there (I’m guessing until Ed died in 2012), and I found some ads from the mid-2010s advertising it as a rental. But as far as I can tell, the same people have owned it this entire time. Due to the proximity of this property to Mar-a-Lago, I have to wonder if it could have been used to conduct surveillance on Mar-a-Lago during the 80s and 90s. Cell phone traffic was very easy to decrypt (or entirely unencrypted) during this time, and 1048 S Ocean Blvd is perched conveniently on the only route leading to Mar-a-Lago from the north. Anyone coming to or from Mar-a-Lago via this northern route would have driven right past this property. This opens up all kinds of possibilities, IF we believe it was a spy operation (which I do.)

If Trump could be shown to have interacted directly with members of Alpha Omega Research Foundation, this case could be made a lot easier. Instead, we can only determine the solution to this mystery down to the physical distance of a quarter mile: the distance between Mar-a-Lago and the Bacinich mansion at 1048 S Ocean Blvd. But, how far is a quarter of a mile, really?
