The Man
Passionate Stallmate

The Man
In his vast and boundless heart
Storms found shelter.
His presence
Silenced the mat – and everyone around it.
Mossadegh, Hafez,
And Beethoven
Were his quiet,
Eternal companions.
He loved Mir-Taleqan,
Who split the quantum grain
Within the field of thought.
A man who smiled
Yet his smile came from no man,
Not his sons,
Not his broken wife,
Not his nation,
Nor its rotten throne,
Nor from the pompous thug
Draped in foreign silk
Crowned “Mother of Iran.”
He smiled with the breadth of his soul
Wrestled with the infinity of his heart.
He was our mother,
And our father too.
Shadows barred the stadium gates
He could not even witness a match.
His friends
Not just from behind,
But face to face – stabbed him.
They cut his income,
Left him alone
On the mat,
In training,
In life.
He was undone by a rootless wife,
Scheming siblings,
A king built of lies,
And shadows
That feared light.
A nation
That always stones its stars
Until no path remained.
Wisdom, genius, grace, and beauty
Once studied at his feet.
And Takhti,
Took the hemlock cup
With the rhythm of despair,
Like Tchaikovsky
By his own hand
Checkmated in a rigged game
Whose rules were twisted by fools.
He drank the poison
Of grim beasts,
Black leeches,
And soared away.
For he loved life,
Loved love,
Loved his people and homeland.
He loved
And remained love.
He didn’t fear,
Didn’t yield
Only
Had nothing more to say.
In a hotel room,
He descended
Into the silence
That had always been
His truest friend.
Because shouting was futile
In a land that has no ears,
No mind,
No memory,
No belief,
No homeland.
But now,
Those who blocked his way
Have rotted,
Died in disgrace,
Been forgotten.
Takhti was a star.
“For one moment, he shone through this darkness
And lived,
And left.”
I know you.
Your kinship is woven
Into my fibers.
I know you
Your silence,
Your laughter,
Your beauty,
Your pain and loneliness.
I hear
And breathe you in.
