  1. People who have already decided they are right.

When someone is committed to a conclusion rather than the truth, facts become decorations, not evidence.

  1. People whose identity depends on their belief.

If changing their mind feels like losing a part of themselves, they will defend the belief at all costs.

  1. People who argue to win, not to understand.

A conversation cannot succeed when one side sees it as a competition.

  1. People who constantly move the goalposts.

Every answer creates a new objection because their goal is not resolution but resistance.

  1. People who mistake volume for intelligence.

The loudest person in the room is not always the most informed.

  1. People who refuse to acknowledge evidence.

You cannot reason someone out of a position they did not reason themselves into.

  1. People who enjoy provoking others.

Some people are not seeking answers; they are seeking reactions

  1. People who turn every disagreement into a personal attack. Once the discussion becomes about character instead of ideas, meaningful dialogue is over.

  2. People who are emotionally flooded with anger. Neuroscience shows that intense anger reduces our ability to think rationally and process information objectively.

  3. People who ask questions but reject every answer. They are not searching for truth; they are searching for confirmation.

  4. People who cannot admit they are wrong. Growth begins where ego ends.

  5. People who argue in bad faith. They misrepresent your position, ignore context, and twist your words to score points.

  6. People who believe every issue has only two sides. They are not open to the fact that two people can be right at the same time.

  1. People who confuse confidence with competence. Being certain is not the same thing as being correct.

  2. People who have nothing to lose from being wrong. When there is no cost to ignorance, ignorance becomes comfortable.

  3. People who are committed to a tribe rather than a principle. They will defend “their side” even when the facts say otherwise.

  4. People who refuse to listen. An argument requires two participants; a lecture requires only one.

  5. Don’t argue with yourself when you’re angry. The worst arguments often happen when emotions are speaking louder than reason.

Add yours … And drink some wine while at it.
