When Dennia N’ Serenade released their first and second albums, their musical identity was largely shaped by synthesizers, electronic textures, and dreamy atmospheres. The third album shifted that balance as Pauldy Gaotama explored more delay-driven guitar work, bringing spacious ambient textures into the band’s sound.

With their fourth album, ***Aku, Tanpamu, Masih Kamu***, the band moved in a different direction once again.

This record embraces a more organic approach, placing violin and cello alongside thinner layers of synthesizers. While some listeners may hear echoes of bands such as The Corrs, the creative process behind the album was never about following another artist. Instead, the goal was to expand Dennia N’ Serenade’s musical palette while preserving the dreamy atmosphere that has been part of the band’s identity from the beginning.

Most of the songs were written by Dhony Saktiawan during the 2020 pandemic. As daily life slowed down and movement became limited, he spent much of his time writing lyrics, composing melodies, and developing ideas that would eventually become the foundation of this album.

Several songs continued to evolve through online discussions with Jessica Sophie Smits. Despite living in different cities, the band members exchanged demos and ideas, gradually shaping the record from a distance.

As the pandemic began to ease in 2022, Dhony invited Anita Sofia Indri to add violin and cello arrangements to the songs.

Rather than filling every section with string instruments, he gave her a simple direction:

“Anita, don’t thicken every part. Just listen carefully and add violin or cello where you feel something is missing. I’ll absorb it after you finish the demos. Let’s start with Bertepuk Sebelah Tangan.”

That approach became one of the reasons the strings feel natural throughout the album. They were never intended to dominate the songs, but to deepen the emotions already present within them.

Thematically, ***Aku, Tanpamu, Masih Kamu*** explores youth, friendship, longing, hope, and the many forms of love experienced during college years and early adulthood.

Some songs tell stories of loving someone who only sees you as a friend. Others follow young couples riding Vespas through Yogyakarta, creating memories as the city quietly becomes part of their relationship.

Tracks such as Masih Disini and Hasrat reflect hope, devotion, and the desire to hold on to someone important.

One of the album’s most intimate songs is Hirau Pukau.

At its core, the song tells the story of falling in love unintentionally. The narrator initially pays little attention to someone’s presence, only to discover that the feeling grows stronger over time.

The phrase “kau pukau aku” represents more than attraction. It reflects a quiet surrender to emotions that can no longer be ignored.

The album also contains stories inspired by real experiences.

One of them comes from a day Dhony Saktiawan and Anita Sofia Indri spent together around Taman Ismail Marzuki in Cikini. They were not performing or rehearsing. Instead, they simply watched a music performance, walked around the arts district, and spent time together as friends.

Later, they took a commuter train to Kalibata before Dhony accompanied Anita home to Pejaten.

The experience seemed ordinary at the time, yet it remained in memory for years.

Eventually, it became the inspiration for Milik Waktu Bukan Milik Kita.

For this track, Dhony and Jessica experimented with a stronger Japanese pop influence than anywhere else on the album. The inspiration came from the atmosphere of riding a train at sunset, watching the city pass through the windows, and realizing that some beautiful moments are only borrowed for a short time.

Even the Japanese-built commuter trains operating in Jakarta indirectly shaped the song’s imagery and mood.

The result is a song filled with nostalgia, movement, and the understanding that not everything we cherish will remain ours forever.

Ultimately, *Aku, Tanpamu, Masih Kamu* is more than an album about love. It is a collection of stories about people who once appeared in our lives, places that left lasting impressions, and moments that can never return, yet continue to live on through memory.
