What I’ve Learned from the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) AI Foundations Course(Free Until Oct 31, 2025)

A few days ago, I decided to take the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) AI Foundations course. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect , but as someone fascinated by AI, I wanted more than just buzzwords. I wanted to understand how AI really works and how cloud platforms like Oracle make it practical.

Why I Signed Up

AI is everywhere, from recommendation engines to fraud detection. But what interested me most was: how do these models get built, trained, and deployed at scale? That curiosity led me to Oracle’s beginner-friendly course, and it turned out to be a great starting point. I also decided to take advantage of the fact that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) AI Foundations course are currently free.

A Few Things That Stuck with Me

• AI vs ML vs Deep Learning — I finally understood the hierarchy: AI is the big picture, ML learns from data, and Deep Learning uses neural networks to go deeper.
• Supervised vs Unsupervised Learning — I liked how they broke it down: one learns from labeled data, the other finds patterns on its own.
• Data Science Workflow — This was my favorite: collect data, clean it, train models, measure performance, and deploy. Simple in theory, but powerful in practice.

Discovering Oracle’s AI Tools

The highlight for me was seeing the AI services Oracle offers:

• OCI Data Science for building and training models
• OCI Vision for analyzing images
• OCI Language for natural language tasks
• OCI Speech for transcribing audio
• OCI Anomaly Detection for spotting unusual patterns
• OCI Digital Assistant for chatbots

These tools felt like building blocks I could actually use in projects.

A Thought on Ethics

The course ended with something I really appreciated: a reminder that AI isn’t just about making models smarter, it’s about making them fair, transparent, and responsible. That’s the kind of perspective I think every AI practitioner needs.

For me, the OCI AI Foundations course wasn’t just another online class , it was a clear entry point into cloud-based AI. I’m now excited to dive deeper into OCI Data Science and experiment with real-world datasets.
