Oct 29 — Night Return and the Light of Interview
It was past midnight when I left NTNU.
The echo of closing doors still lingered in my mind.
A shower, a prayer, and the quiet resolve: rest, tomorrow begins again.
Morning came with my usual ritual —
the tuna rice bowl at Sukiya,
a small comfort before another round of deep learning lectures.
Back in the lab, I packed my notes,
then rushed across the city for the CET roommate interview.
I practiced in front of a mirror,
whispering lines like prayers.
The interview went well —
the panel seemed genuinely interested,
and I felt God’s quiet assurance behind every word.
Afterward, I treated myself:
milk tea, fried chicken, takoyaki,
and finally a steaming bowl of hotpot.
On the bus home, I noticed the pregnant woman icon on the seat
mirrored my own slouched posture.
I laughed softly —
maybe this city had finally made room for me.

Oct 30 — Kintsugi and Self-Reflection
The morning was clear for once.
I overslept, but made it to class just in time.
Our professor reviewed the midterm;
my score was mediocre, yet strangely liberating —
failure sometimes means space to grow.
That evening, at a lecture on Kintsugi,
the speaker said:
“We all have cracks;
art begins when we learn to mend them with gold.”
I ate my Subway sandwich slowly,
thinking about all the fragments I carry.

Oct 31 — Masks, Laughter, and Purpose
Halloween in class —
students in masks,
yet the topic was MRI signal reconstruction.
The absurdity was perfect.
My advisor later invited me for coffee.
He spoke about YOLO and my next research steps.
His kindness made the weight feel light.
At night I attended another lecture,
fighting drowsiness and overwork.
By midnight, my brother and I cooked chicken in rice wine
and laughed like children again.

Nov 1 — Friends and the Stage
Morning gym with an engineer friend,
then sitting on the steps watching a baseball game in light rain.
The air smelled of soil and adrenaline.
Lunch was fish noodles and laughter,
evening brought a modern dance show
by a dear friend from university.
I bought a sunflower —
because she once said, “I want to become light.”
When the stage lit up, I believed her.
After the show, I met familiar faces,
and on my way home, a stray cat posed for my camera.
Somehow, that small coincidence
felt like grace.

Nov 2 — The Morning of Rotary
Heavy rain.
Shoes soaked, spirit lifted.
At the Rotary briefing,
my mentor handed me a boiled egg and said,
“Eat something first.”
Such small kindness felt immense.
I took notes as the speakers shared about service and purpose:
“A blessing isn’t to be chosen;
it’s to become the bridge for others.”
Dinner later with a new friend —
dumplings, laughter, and the quiet sense
that I was where I should be.

Nov 3 — Scans, Mishaps, and Gratitude
Morning light over the Presidential Office —
Taipei looked both solemn and kind.
Walking there, I thought of the city’s long history,
and of where I might be heading next.
At the lab, doctors came for scans
and even brought me a MOS burger.
I accidentally dropped it on the floor,
and just laughed, saying,
“Guess that’s today’s little mishap.”
Sometimes, a smile is all it takes
to keep moving forward.
Later came the MRI class — a few careless mistakes,
two bentos via Uber Eats,
and a quiet, lingering joy.
Even an imperfect morning
can be mended by an afternoon of small graces.
By night, a friend stopped by the lab.
We spoke of projects, of dreams, of patience.
And somewhere between the words,
I whispered inwardly —
keep going, and stay grateful.
Uber

Epilogue — The One Who Walks Through Rain
The city keeps raining.
But within it, I found the outline of light.
I no longer wait for clear skies;
I simply walk with faith and an open umbrella.
Life won’t slow down —
but I can choose to walk gently through it.
