Despite years of rumors and speculation surrounding the Milwaukee Bucks' homegrown superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo has denied the notion of him being traded from Cream City.

“If my agent is talking to the Bucks, he’s his own person,” Antetokounmpo said in December 2025. He emphasized that he was “locked in” on encouraging his teammates and getting back on the court.

“He can have any conversation he wants about it. At the end of the day, I don’t work for my agent; my agent works for me. And there’s going to be conversations that are going to be made between him and the Bucks, and him and his other players, and him and other teams and other GMs, executives around the league.

Antetokounmpo’s relationship with the Bucks’ front office deteriorated notably over the past few months, as Milwaukee did not clear the Greek superstar to play, despite his claims of being healthy.

In addition, Bucks co-owner Wes Edens confirmed earlier this year that the Bucks would face an ultimatum this off-season. As Antetokounmpo entered the final year of his contract, the Bucks would be forced to extend him or trade him, as it would not benefit the team to let the superstar walk for nothing.
