KKN-T 13 Umsida Holds Nobar to Commemorate the 79th Indonesia Independence Day

Wangkal Village, Krembung, Sidoarjo, became livelier than usual on Saturday night, (08/17/2024). Students of the Integrated Community Service Program Group 13 of the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (KKN-T 13 Umsida) managed to attract the attention of villagers by holding a joint viewing (nobar).

Purpose of joint viewing with residents

From parents to children, they gathered at the Mujahidin mosque complex. This activity not only functions as entertainment, but also to restore children’s manners and morality and provide education to be wise in living in the era of globalization.

Praditya Berlianto, a KKN-13 student who acted as the chairman of the committee for this activity, said that the activity was intended to provide two benefits for residents.

The first, he said, is as a means of entertainment that is quite rare in this place. Not only that, this joint screening activity can also provide moral and motivational messages to the audience.

He also expressed his gratitude to the residents of Wangkal village who had welcomed this event with enthusiasm.

“We hope that activities like this can strengthen the relationship between students and the Wangkal village community and provide positive inspiration for the younger generation,” said Praditya.

Residents flocked to the joint screening

The film screening began at around 19.00 WIB. However, since Maghrib, the Mujahidin mosque had been filled with villagers and TPQ children.

Children with cheerful faces ran around the mosque, while parents and TPQ administrators helped prepare mats and snacks to sit and watch together.

Residents in Wangkal village seemed very enthusiastic about welcoming this event, because joint screenings like this rarely happen in their village.

The head of the Aisyiyah branch in Wangkal village stated, “This joint screening event is very good. Especially if at the end of the film screening session we have a discussion together,”.

Short films screened

There were five short films screened in this joint screening, including:

Topi

This film emphasizes the importance of teaching subasita, or politeness, from an early age. By instilling these values ​​in children, they will grow up to be good people and can pass these values ​​on to the next generation.

Kabar Anget

This film discusses how small things can cause big chaos if social media is used unwisely.

Sepatu Septu’s Shoes depicts the struggle of a mother named Juminten who tries to buy her son, Septu, new shoes so that he is not bullied at school.

In this film, Juminten faces challenges when she accepts a job offer in Jakarta that can change her family’s life but also requires her to leave her child.

Letter from Mother

Tells the story of a mother’s sacrifice whose child never acknowledged her. The mother always apologizes to her child, even though she often says harsh words.

This film shows the love and sacrifice of a mother who never fades even though her child’s attitude hurts her.

Tilik

This film shows how gossip and prejudice can affect a person’s life by combining humor with social reality.

Umsida KKN-T students who were involved in this activity felt happy and proud to be able to make a positive contribution to society.

The Mujahidin Mosque became silent during the film. Every scene in the film seemed to attract the audience’s attention. Some people laughed, and some were moved.

“I like the film, especially the titles Tilik and Kabar Anget. The story is funny and suitable for mothers like us, we can use it as a lesson,” said Indun, a village resident who also watched.

She also hopes that after this activity ends, similar activities can be carried out again in the future. Because in addition to functioning as entertainment, they can also function as an effective educational tool for the community in utilizing technology wisely.

After each film was shown, KKN-T students also held a short question and answer session. They invited residents to share answers and take lessons from the film they had just watched, so that this question and answer session was interactive and many residents gave correct answers.

Of course, KKN-T students gave prizes for each correct answer.
