I love a good murder mystery and PBS just keeps on creating twisty new detective shows that really deliver. Right now I’m binge watching the first season of “Patience” to get caught up for Season 2 that started in June 2026.
The setup of the show is this: perplexing crimes keep cropping up at the York, England police department and the detective team unexpectedly discovers the formidable skills of Patience Evans, a young autistic woman from the Criminal Records Office, whose super power is seeing what others don’t in the evidence.
Patience’s highly perceptive nature is driven by her passion for solving difficult puzzles and her unique methods of analyzing data to help solve crimes.
And it’s so interesting to watch how she learns to work as part of a police team and how they adapt to her needs and begin to appreciate her insights.
**Ella Maisy Purvis** stars as Patience and brings a believability and authenticity to her performance because she is neurodivergent.
