Why Having a Spec as a Man is a Subtle Sign That You Might be Homosexual
It won’t make sense until it does
There’s a thought I’ve been playing with recently.
It sounds genuinely ridiculous, and it still might be ridiculous at the end of this article, but it’s interesting enough that I had to write about it.
What if having a “spec” as a man… is a little strange?
Not strange in the obvious way. Strange in a quieter, more psychological sense.
On the surface, it makes sense.
You like what you like.
You’re attracted to a certain type of woman.
She has to look a certain way, dress a certain way, move a certain way.
Fairs.
But the more I think about it, the more it starts to feel… curated.
Almost like having a spec signals an attraction to a very specific idea of a woman.
And when attraction becomes that specific, that controlled, that intentional… it stops feeling like instinct.
It starts feeling like selection.
And selection is interesting.
Because most natural things aren’t that precise.
This is going to be my shortest piece, but it’s going to make many people touch grass.

Sometimes when people over-specify something, it’s not because they understand it deeply but because they’re trying to control it.
Or distance themselves from something they don’t fully understand.
And this is where my thought process gets lowkey crazy.
Because if a man needs a woman to look, act, and exist in a very specific way before he can feel attraction…
then what exactly is he responding to?
Is it the woman?
Or is it the conditions?
And if the conditions matter more than the person then maybe the attraction isn’t as straightforward as it seems.
Maybe, in some strange way, the rigidity is the signal.
Not of clarity as many men suggest, but of conflict.
Spelling it out rather crudely with brazen stereotype as the bias for my argument…
if you are only attracted to a “spec” of women then you are potentially gay, or a closeted homosexual.
Which is fine…
However, the irony shouldn’t be lost at how the one thing men think they use to signal high standards could just as easily be interpreted as a self imposed restriction on exploring women in their many forms.

By narrowing attraction to a rigid, pre-defined checklist, men aren’t being “selective” , they are more likely being defensive.
In psychology, true attraction to the feminine is characterized by an openness to the “Other”, which is a recognition of a separate, autonomous consciousness that exists outside of the observer’s control.
To a very huge degree, this requires vulnerability.
When a man constructs a “spec,” he is essentially building a containment field. By demanding that a woman fit a pre-determined aesthetic or behavioral template, he ensures that the object of his desire remains static, and a static object cannot initiate and it cannot surprise.
A “spec” is a sign of an erotic deficit.
Men with a high baseline of heterosexual desire do not feel the need to police their attraction; in any case, the desire is robust enough to engage with the infinite nuances of different women.
Conversely, men who catagorize women into “specs” are essentially admitting that their capacity for attraction is narrow, brittle, and easily disrupted by anything that deviates from their narrow control-parameters.
It would be overreaching and ignorant to say that there aren’t other reasons for why men may be interested in fixating on a certain type of woman. Regardless, be it this or that, the common denominator is form.
A spec is from a male POV is a curated aesthetic that is heavily influenced by how men judge other men, form. Therein lies potentially latent homosexual orientation.
The “Male-Gaze” as a Primary Language
Men by nature perceive the world with a lens that prizes objectification over connection.
When a man treats a woman like a luxury vehicle or a piece of tech, he is using the same internal rubric he uses to evaluate other men.
Men are socialized to value utility, power, and physical architecture in their peers. By applying this same technical assessment to women, a psychological barrier develops that is reinforced by the validation of his own taste.
Attraction centered around this cold, architectural observation essentially focus on “build” rather than “energy.” This directly contrast the basis of any Heterosexual relationship.
The Basis of Same-Sex Attraction: The Mirror Effect
Same-sex attraction is fundamentally an attraction to the familiar.
When a man is attracted to men, he is often subconsciously drawn to a reflection of his own identity, ego, or physical form. There is an inherent comfort in “sameness” because the dynamic is built on recognition and less about translating the different emotional worlds of two genders.
The Translation Error And The Avoidance of Difference
Men that forces this “mirror” logic onto women are simply not looking for a “complementary other”. Their search is rooted in finding what will fit into thier pre-existing, male-coded framework.
Heterosexuality, by its very definition, requires the acceptance of radical difference. It requires navigating the “messy” reality that women do not — and should not — operate by the same internal script as men.
It is the friction caused by this “otherness” that gives the heterosexual experience its vitality.
Essentially, if a man is religiously obsessed with his “spec” and finds the friction of the numourous options repulsive. It is more likely that he is trying to force a heterosexual encounter to feel like a homosexual one.
if this analysis feels like an attack on your character, take a breath and go listen to Taylor Swift.
