We Got Some Court Dates On Alicia Hughes

One of the wilder groomer-teacher stories out there, sadly.

My wife’s aunt was a public school elementary teacher for 32 years, and when I told her the outlines of the Alicia Hughes story, she about near fell off her chair. If you are unfamiliar with Mrs. Hughes, let me walk you through some of it:

  • She was a school secretary (I.e. front office) in Union City, Indiana.
  • One day, a 17 year-old calls to say he is sick.
  • After he hangs up, he gets a text from an unknown number basically starting to flirt with him.
  • Said text was from Hughes, who took the sick call.
  • Eventually they start a little fling, including having sex in a Dollar Tree parking lot.
  • She apparently films some of these encounters.
  • At the same time, she was also sleeping with another student, who she lured in a similar way. (Got his number from her office job.)
  • On Valentine’s Day of all days, her husband comes home and she’s sleeping with Student №1.
  • Her husband, enraged, essentially commits domestic violence and the cops are called on him.
  • When the cops come out, the husband explains what happened — and now the cops are focused on her.

That husband, whose name was Bailey, filed for divorce on February 18 — so, four days later. That divorce is essentially final per the state of Indiana and the county of Randolph, but the final dissolution hearing is on December 2. It appears Bailey and Alicia had three or so kids. (I’ve heard 2 and 3 in reporting; most pictures seem to show 3.)

As for her other legal problems, she got charged with all of these:

35–42–4–7(p)/F5: Child Seduction-Child care worker in sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct w/c35–42–4–7(p)/F5: Child Seduction-Child care worker in sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct w/c35–42–4–7(p)/F5: Child Seduction-Child care worker in sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct w/c35–42–4–7(p)/F5: Child Seduction-Child care worker in sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct w/c35–42–4–7(p)/F5: Child Seduction-Child care worker in sexual intercourse or other sexual conduct w/c35–42–4–4(b)(1)/F5: Child Exploitation-Manage, produce, sponsor, present, exhibit, photo, film, vide35–42–4–4(d)(1)/F6: Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material

That trial is currently slated for January 27, 2027. It's apparently a big winter for Alicia in terms of no more marriage and then potential jail time. She is expected to get somewhere between 6–10 years, although the sentences on these things vary widely.

At issue in the trial might be the release of the interrogation video, which you can find at the first link above, because her lawyers claim it was released prematurely and thus damaged her public standing. If anything, it might be grounds for a plea deal.

Tons of this stuff recently in the news:

You’ve also got Stephanie Jensen, Maris Nichols, and Danielle Weaver.

I do not know whether this happens more than in 1986, or if we are just better at understanding male sexual trauma and prosecuting these cases because of, well, Snapchat and Discord and iPhones. I think it seems to be happening more, and the FBI said similar in 2022, which then leads you to question why. Are more young women being abused by family members, creating groomers in their mid-20s? Are too many women being raised in an entitled way where they think they can go get whatever they want?

Is motherhood not the saving grace they thought? (Many of these cases involve moms of 2–3.) It’s fascinating. I think people too easily dismiss these women as “crazy pedos,” and while that’s true on face, there has to be something a bit more to how often these stories seem to pop.

You do need to bring in the husband. I wouldn’t victim-blame the husband, as they just got cucked by a high school student and their wife (and often the mother of their kids) is now headed to prison, and they have to manage a divorce and a new life and helping their kids. It’s a terrible situation for the husband, without a doubt. Danielle Weaver (linked above), her husband was in his 20s and filed for divorce in about the same number of hours as his age — and I doubt his life is “easy” right now.

But yes, husbands can be horny Little dorks who hide behind weaponized incompetence, and I know it can get tedious to come home and see him gaming or watching ESPN or whatever, and so you find this young man to be “thrilling” or “exciting.” I understand, but unfortunately …

… that shit is still illegal, and you’re gonna pay somewhat for it.

It could also be a proof by example fallacy, whereby a certain subsection of young men hates women so much (the backside of #MeToo) that they long for these stories because it’s the ultimate way to dunk on a woman. I’ve considered that too.
