I thought I got it right, and when they ask, is everything clear? I say yes! But it’s not. When you are given instructions or training on something specific, you really want to make sure that they understand you and you understand them.

I am a very stubborn person, and nothing good happened to me because of the fact that I trust myself so much, and I don’t open the door to more information from others even if they are experienced!

I want to master the skill, but I pretend that I am listening or I don’t care! and it’s for me like, “Oh, okay, it’s easy.” And now I know that when I say that; it means: “No sir, I don’t get you” but instead I say; “Yes sir, I understand.”

After 12 rowing lessons, I thought that I got the skill, but I was depending only on the practicality and the technique of the rowing, and I didn’t give much attention to the information in the rowing book.

I thought I knew it all, but the test results proved otherwise when I got 7 out of 20, and the examiner made me feel good on some parts by giving me 8 out of 20. It was like the shock you get when sitting in an ice bath.

There was my college; she was with me on the same test, and I took more time than she needed, and she passed, and I failed the test, and now I am going to take another one next week.

Besides all that, I was cycling, and the wind was so strong in the early morning. My bike was a normal bike, and I was like, “Struggling on the road to get to the club on time!” It was also raining so hard I was completely wet.

But what bothers me the most is that I want to make it and pass the exam that i came for, but what is the point of being on time but failing! Me going today was not worth it. It has been a hard day for me and a lesson that I will never forget in my entire life.

My lesson is when you say “I understand,” make sure you do! And focus on the practical part and the information part and repeat till you have this very strong feeling that you understand for real and not just pretend that you fully understand.
