I’m Launching a YouTube Channel About Masculinity. It Starts With My Son

For months, I’ve been writing about masculinity, the manosphere, and the young men being shaped by both. Most of you found that work here, in essays.

But the story that started all of it did not begin with reporting. It began at home. With my son. That is why I’ve launched a new YouTube channel: My Son Found the Manosphere.

It begins with four short videos about the moment I realized I had not been listening to my son. I had been lecturing him. When he tried to tell me what young men were going through, I gave him the statistics. I told him to look around. Men run the companies. Men hold the power. Women have carried the weight of patriarchy for thousands of years.

I believed every word of it. I still do. But my son was trying to tell me what his world felt like. And I almost missed it. That mistake sent me into the reporting I now do on masculinity, fatherhood, loneliness, dating, politics, the manosphere, and the algorithms reshaping how a generation of young men understand themselves.

The first four videos are up now:

Episode 1: Why the manosphere still has power.

Episode 2: Where my son is now, at 21, and what stayed with him.

Episode 3: What boys actually hear when adults say “toxic masculinity.”

Episode 4: The hardest one to make: what I got wrong as his father.

But this is only the beginning.

The channel will continue with short videos exploring the world around young men today: the boys themselves, their parents, coaches, pastors, mentors, teachers, and the online voices competing to shape them. I want this to become a place where we ask better questions about what boys are hearing, what men are missing, and what kind of masculinity is being built in front of us.

You can watch the videos here: https://www.youtube.com/@MySonFoundtheManosphere/shorts

Subscribe there so you catch what comes next.

If you are a parent, teacher, coach, pastor, mentor, or young man who has seen this world up close, I’d genuinely like to hear from you in the comments there.

I read them. The newsletter continues. And now the reporting has a video home too.

Luc

If this resonated, the full reporting lives in The Manosphere newsletter. Every week I track the figures, platforms, and ideas reshaping how millions of young men understand themselves. Written by a father who is living this story in real time. Free to subscribe at https://lucolinga.substack.com/
