UP to promote traditional crafts, artisans

The Uttar Pradesh government is taking a slew of measures to promote artisans and preserve traditional crafts.

In this series, a 10-day ‘Khadi Mahotsav 2025’ is being organised in Lucknow to foster local entrepreneurship, open new markets for traditional arts and khadi-based industries, and boost rural self-reliance.

Scheduled during November 21–30, the festival will celebrate the rich heritage of khadi, village industries, handicrafts, and local art, providing them a prominent platform for wider recognition.

UP minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Khadi and Village Industries, Sericulture, Handloom and Textiles will inaugurate the event.

More than 160 entrepreneurs from different across UP will display and sell their products.

The exhibition will feature carved wooden furniture from Saharanpur, carpets from Bhadohi, gamchas and sadri from Amroha, durries and towels from Sitapur, Banarasi silk sarees, amla products from Pratapgarh, royal honey from Lucknow, clay craft, Bikaneri papad, leather goods, traditional jackets, garments and a wide range of indigenous products.

Moreover, the state will provide artisans with better resources, modern equipment and growth opportunities to the rural enterprises.

Aligned with the developed vision of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Khadi Mahotsav 2025 is not only a platform to encourage rural industries but also an important step towards promoting indigenous products, empowering artisans and reinforcing the local economy.

It will pave the way for innovation, business expansion and new opportunities for entrepreneurs across the state.
