Why Global Leadership and Governance Fail Without One Definition of Terrorism — And Why the World Must Lead Awakened

The ruins of conflict remind us that terrorism leaves only silence, rubble, and unanswered questions.

There is a word the world repeats every day, and yet no one agrees on what it means. That word is ‘terrorism.’

For some, it is the bombs that tear through cities. For others, it is the occupation of land. For some, it is the lone man with a gun in a school. For others, it is the government policy that condemns millions to hunger and despair. Every side claims the word, but no side claims the truth.

This is the crisis at the heart of our civilization. Terrorism of any kind has no place in this world, and yet the definition remains divided, bent by politics, history, interests, and power. One act is condemned as terror in one country and celebrated as resistance in another. One leader calls it survival, another calls it murder. For some, the very definition of terrorism changes from city to city, from border to border, shaped not by principle but by ideologies, perceptions, and interest.

Terrorism is not a flag or a group. It is the deliberate choice of killing as a solution. It is those who plan it, those who carry it out, those who glorify it. Whether it comes as rockets across a border, a knife in a marketplace, a riot fueled by hate, or a policy that leaves generations in ruin. Its essence is the same. It is the destruction of life in the name of cause, ideology, greed, or power.

And yet, the world remains trapped in contradiction. We condemn what hurts us and excuse what serves us. We cry for justice when our people bleed and fall silent when others are buried. We bend the word “terrorism” until it has no meaning left, and in that emptiness we guarantee that peace will never arrive.

But beyond politics, the truth is simple. Every life taken in the name of ideology or interests is a loss for the future. No nation, no leader, no system can escape that truth.

The question the world must face is this:

will we continue to let terrorism be defined by interest, or will we finally awaken to one definition that serves humanity itself?

It is time for the world to lead awakened.
