Active Release Technique

Active Release Technique (ART) is a patented, patient-assisted technique using specific and guided movement patterns as part of the treatment protocol. Headaches, neck and back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART.

These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles. Repetitive strain injury from overusing muscles may cause your body to produce tough, dense scar tissue in and around the affected area. The resultant scarring binds up and ties down tissues that need to move freely. As scar tissue accumulates, muscles become shorter and weaker causing increased tension on connective tissue. This may result in conditions known as tendonitis or bursitis.

Over time, scar tissue may cause nerve entrapment, lead to decreased joint motion, loss of strength, and significant pain. If a nerve is trapped, one may also experience sensory changes such as numbness, tingling, pins and needles.
