ONE MINUTE TO THINK!

Did God create evil?

In a physics lesson, the teacher asked: “Did God create everything that exists?”

“Yes, teacher”, replied a pupil. “And is there evil?”

The pupils: “Yes, there is!”

The teacher replied: “If God created everything, then he also created evil, and therefore it is unreasonable to believe in a good God.”

The pupils fell silent after such an answer.

The teacher was visibly pleased with himself and proud that he had once again proved that the Christian faith was a divine legend.

A pupil called Albertus raised his hand and said:

“May I ask you a question, Mr Teacher?”

“Of course,” replied the teacher.

Albertus stood up and asked:

“Do you think the cold exists?”

“What kind of question is that?

Of course, it’s cold. Have you never been cold before?” replied the teacher.

All his classmates laughed at the pupil’s question.

Albertus replied:

“Teacher, you know that cold does not exist according to the laws of physics. What we humans think is cold is actually the absence of heat. The fact is: cold does not exist. Mankind only invented this word to describe how we feel without warmth.”

Albertus continues to ask the teacher:

“Do you believe that the darkness exists?”

The teacher replies indignantly: “Of course there is.”

Albertus then explains:

“You’re wrong again, teacher, there is no such thing as darkness any more than there is cold. Darkness is really the absence of light. Light can be researched, but darkness cannot. Darkness cannot be measured. A simple ray of light can penetrate a world of darkness and illuminate it.

How can you tell how dark a room is? You measure the amount of light present, don’t you? Darkness is a term used by people to describe the state of being without light.”

In the end, Albertus asked the teacher:

“Does evil exist?”

The teacher answers, somewhat unsettled:

“I think so. We see it every day. It is evident in the multitude of crimes and acts of violence all over this world. These evil deeds are nothing but malicious.”

Albertus replies again:

“Evil does not exist. Evil is the absence of God / or the absence of love.

It is just like darkness and cold, words invented by humans to describe the absence of God/love.

God did not create evil.

Evil is not like faith or love, which exist just like light and warmth.

Evil is the result of what happens when God’s love is not in the heart.

It is like the cold that comes when there is no warmth, or the darkness that comes when there is no light.”

The teacher sat down thoughtfully.
