What It Feels Like to Pick Up a Parasitic Entity

The following is an excerpt from my comprehensive, 7,000-word guide on spiritual hygiene. If you want the full context, protective protocols, and deeper insights, you can read the complete guide to Spiritual protection here.

When I was living in the US in 2022, I began using DMT pretty regularly for divination. Now, if you know anything about this medicine, it’s not something to work with lightly. It’s commonly referred to as the spirit molecule because it launches you straight into the astral planes.

Even though this was before I started working with different medicine communities in South America and developing a more mature outlook on all of this stuff, I was still pretty careful when it came to plant medicines. I understood that we’re opening ourselves up to all sorts of things that exist outside of ordinary perception.

About 2 weeks before I would be starting a work exchange in Ecuador, I decided to use this medicine again, mostly because I still had some and didn’t want to bring it with me.

It was more of an impulsive decision where I thought, “Okay, why not?” and prepared to launch myself into the cosmos. Regrettably, no prayers, no setting of an intention, and no prior preparation or cleaning of the medicine beforehand, as I usually do.

This was a mistake.

As soon as I smoked the DMT, I felt myself moving into a space that didn’t quite feel right. For lack of a better word, it felt dirty, and I was completely exposed.

In this space, there were these jester-like entities that were hopping around. They didn’t feel evil necessarily, but they didn’t feel good either. I remember thinking, “Oh, this feels weird, I don’t want to be here.”

Already in the experience, I decided to wait it out, and a few minutes later, the experience began to fade away.

But there was this feeling that stayed with me, something felt a bit off as reality returned to normal. Part of me was saying, “It’s fine, it’s just my mind overthinking it,” but there was another part of me, let’s say a more intuitive part, that felt uneasy about the experience.

Over the next couple of days, I would slip into a depression.

This was a bit odd because I hadn’t experienced depression for many years, and I thought I was well over that stage of my life. But once again, I couldn’t see the light anymore. I couldn’t feel excitement or hope, even though I was on the precipice of a long-time dream of mine coming true.

It wasn’t until the first Ayahuasca ceremony I did, about a week after arriving in Ecuador, that I had a vision of a huge dragon. Its energy was powerful, like a warm breeze blowing through me, and I saw these little slimes come out of me and wriggle away in a panic.

Following that ceremony, I was back to my happy self. Having some conversations with different healers over the next couple of weeks confirmed that I had some sort of entity attachment, and I know where I got it from.

What I went through isn’t as crazy as it might sound, either.

A 2020 Johns Hopkins survey of over 2,300 people who’d had a DMT entity encounter found that these experiences share consistent features across totally unrelated people. It puts it into perspective that perhaps these experiences aren’t as subjective as we thought, and I’m definitely not the only one who felt they took something on afterwards.

Realizing you might have picked up something dense or unwanted is only the first step. The real work is knowing exactly how to command it to leave and close your energetic field.
