🗣MOSES IS DEAD; JOSHUAS, ARISE! (XCV)❤️‍🔥

⚓️BIBLE REFERENCE: Joshua 21:13-19 (AMP) [13] So to the sons of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, the city of refuge for anyone who committed manslaughter, with its pasture lands, and Libnah with its pasture lands,

[14] and Jattir with its pasture lands and Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,

[15] and Holon with its pasture lands and Debir with its pasture lands,

[16] and Ain with its pasture lands and Juttah with its pasture lands and Beth-shemesh with its pasture lands; nine cities from these two tribes (Judah and Simeon).

[17] From the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its pasture lands, and Geba with its pasture lands,

[18] Anathoth with its pasture lands and Almon with its pasture lands; four cities.

[19] All the cities of the sons of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their pasture lands.

🧠MEMORY VERSE: THE Lord is my Light and my Salvation–whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 (AMPC)

🗓BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Chronicles 14-17, Psalms 145, Proverbs 25.

💪🏿BIBLE IN 90 DAYS: Isaiah 14 - Isaiah 28.

MESSAGE We see from the Bible that the Levites who had been separated unto God for His Service, had no inheritance among their brothers. However, The Lord commanded Moses to give them cities to live in with pasture lands for their cattle. The Bible records how forty-eight cities were given to them by their brothers out of their inheritances. Today’s Bible reference unveils the lands given to the sons of Aaron the priest. Interestingly, the first land mentioned that was given to them was Hebron the city of refuge. This directly implies that the land of the priests is designed by The Lord to be the land of refuge.

Refuge; a secure place to live in, undisturbed by the enemy. The whole idea of the cities of refuge was to provide a safe place for the one who had unintentionally killed a person, saving him or her from the blood avenger. The Lord had already meted out death as the punishment for those who kill but, by a Sovereign Act of His Mercy, He established cities of refuge for anyone who had unintentionally killed someone, to run to. Again, this directly implies that the land of the priests is also designed by The Lord as a land of Mercy. Our memory verse unveils a strong Kingdom Mystery; The Lord being our refuge. This is not hard for us to believe because if He could designate cities of refuge to mercifully preserve the life of the one who had unintentionally committed murder, He Himself must be The Source of, and The God of refuge. Did you see how even the city of refuge has pasture lands? The refuge The Lord supplies is not merely a hideout, not only a secure place where the enemy cannot touch you, but a place where a man can also live in peace and harmony as a normal free man. Wouldn’t it have been beautiful if we still had those cities of refuge in existence today and maybe present in every nation?

But, we do! Remember, the cities of refuge were given to the priests, read this portion of Scripture to see the new testament plan for the cities of refuge; "Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them: “Do not go among the Gentiles, and do not go into a city of the Samaritans; but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Do not take gold, or silver, or [even] copper money in your money belt, or a provision bag for your journey, or even two tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for the worker deserves his support. Whatever city or village you enter, ask who in it is worthy [who welcomes you and your message], and stay at his house until you leave [that city]. As you go into the house, give it your greeting [that is, ‘Peace be to this house’]. If [the family living in] the house is worthy [welcoming you and your message], give it your [blessing of] peace [that is, a blessing of well-being and prosperity, the favor of God]. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace" (Matthew 10:5-13). Whereas the cities of refuge was given to the priests in the Old Testament, wherever the disciples landed in the New Testament became thr cities of refuge!

🎺CALL: That portion of Scripture didn’t stop there but our Lord Jesus continued; "Whoever does not welcome you, nor listen to your message, as you leave that house or city, shake the dust [of it] off your feet [in contempt, breaking all ties]. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that city [since it rejected the Messiah’s messenger]" (Matthew 10:14-15). Two sides of the Coin; Wherever Jesus' Disciples went and were accepted became a city of refuge but wherever they were rejected, became a city of doom to its inhabitants!

We see a practical case in Acts 13:13-52, where Paul and Barnabas went to Antioch to witness about Jesus and although the whole city gathered to listen to them, Acts 13:50 reveals; "But the Jews incited the devout, prominent women and the leading men of the city, and instigated persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them forcibly out of their district". In response, Acts 13:51-52 reveals; "But they shook its dust from their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium. And the disciples were continually filled [throughout their hearts and souls] with joy and with the Holy Spirit". Except they later repented, we will witness a terrible judgment on the city of Antioch on the last day! By now, I am sure you know that you and I are both disciples of our Lord Jesus and priests to our God (Revelation 5:9-10). Because Jesus lives in us, we define the destinies of cities. Anyone who rejects us, has rejected Him. Our presence in a city is capable of causing progress, favour, Mercy and the goodness of God in it. Our absence is capable of causing calamity in such a city! Didn't The Lord Bless the house of Potiphar because he made Joseph overseer of his house in Genesis 39:1-6? Haven't you read of the peace and tranquility that accompanied the kings of Israel and Judah who sought the priests of their time? You are more important than you think! You are a blessing to that organisation you work in! Your family is blessed because you are there! Wherever you visit, The Lord Himself has visited! The more places we go to witness about Jesus, the more opportunities they get to be blessed or be doomed. With this understanding, can we prayerfully commit to stepping out into territories empowered by The Holy Spirit as Jesus' witnesses?

🫵🏿BRIDGE: Let's take up the whole Psalms 27 even as we go deeper in the revelation of our Lord Jesus as our refuge; "The Lord is my light and my salvation— Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the refuge and fortress of my life— Whom shall I dread? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. Though an army encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, Even in this I am confident. One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord And to meditate in His temple. For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, In His tent I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; Be gracious and compassionate to me and answer me. When You said, “Seek My face [in prayer, require My presence as your greatest need],” my heart said to You, “Your face, O Lord, I will seek [on the authority of Your word].” Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor leave me, O God of my salvation! Although my father and my mother have abandoned me, Yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child]. Teach me Your way, O Lord, And lead me on a level path Because of my enemies [who lie in wait]. Do not give me up to the will of my adversaries, For false witnesses have come against me; They breathe out violence. I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait for and confidently expect the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord" (Psalms 27:1-14).

🔥PRAYER POINT: My Father, I Thank You for sending Your Word to me today. Lord Jesus, please, by Your Spirit, release unto me fresh Grace to be Your faithful witness in Jesus Mighty Name!
