British Columbia’s Copper Can Power the North American AI and Energy Revolution

A Belt Built for Scale

The Quesnel Trough is home to some of Canada’s largest and longest-life copper operations. Anglo Teck’s Highland Valley Copper is Canada’s largest copper mine. Taseko’s Gibraltar and Hudbay’s Copper Mountain add significant tonnage, while Centerra’s Mount Milligan and Imperial Metals’ Mount Polley contribute copper-gold production. Beyond producers, the report identifies a deep pipeline of advancing projects. NorthWest Copper’s Kwanika/Stardust is at PEA stage. At the resource stage, Kodiak Copper’s MPD and Vizsla Copper’s Woodjam represent large-tonnage porphyry targets. Pacific Ridge’s Kliyul hosts a 334 Mt Inferred Resource at 0.33% CuEq. Canada One Mining’s Friday Creek Zone has returned grab samples of up to 13.35% Cu, pointing to high-grade potential alongside bulk-tonnage systems.

The Investment Case

US tariff policy and supply chain fragility are accelerating demand for North American copper production. BC’s Quesnel Trough, stable jurisdiction, established infrastructure, and a 26-company active exploration ecosystem, is positioned as a cornerstone of Canada’s domestic critical mineral supply chain.
