Still Tight -Much Focus on Pennsylvania

Battleground States have Not Changed

The battleground states basically remain the same.

• PENN
• NV
• AZ
• WI
• OH
• GA
• MICH
• N.C.

These 8 states get all the attention. That’s what effect the electorial college system has on our Presidential Politics. You see. Living in Missouri, we are not likely to get a visit from a candidate this late in the election, unless it is at a fundraiser. It your State is not on the list above, your vote takes on a bit of a lesser value that if you live in Georgia or Wisconson. Sadly, the electorial collage deminishes the concept of equal voter value. It is what it is, but in these times of divided government. This race remains tight. A few votes in this state or that state can change the outcome.

Many election watchers believe the race hinges most likely on Pennsylvania with its 19 votes. My estimation at this point has bot substantually changed over the past 6 days. Individuall shifts in the states in play have been small. often less than a full point in percentage. The nationwide poll has contined to reflect much the change with Kamala Harris up by 2.7% and the parallel lines have been relatively flat with only tiny bumps.

Getting back to the electoral map, which is what will decide te outcome, after all. I feel there has been no significant chagnge in the electorial votes over the past six weeks. I see Kamala Harris getting 277 votes to Donald Trump’s 261. CLICK HERE TO SEE MY MAP

Outcome of the Vice Presidential Debate last remains to be assessed. I don’t see it being a big advantage to either side. No one bombed, and Vance started out looking more relaxed, but Wals got into a flow and finished strong. One of the most damming questions was to Vance as to who won the 2020 election and he could not say it. He sidestepped the question entirely. The watch party I attended gasped when he answere.

The two were basically civil thoughy didagreed. Peridocally one would agree with the other in part. The takeaways was Vance had to defend Trumps record on abortion and he acknowledged the Republican Party struggles on this with the public.

They were vastly different on taxation, Vance tryibg to defend the Trump tax breaks for the wealthy at the cost of services to the middle-class and lower-class. Walz stressed that those tax cuts to wealthy and corporhave hdded much to our national debt.

Walz zeroed in on the success of the Affordable Care Act providing the widest coverage of halth care yet in our country. He reminded us that Trump tried repeatedly to kill the health care act without success. He reminded us too that Trump said when last elected he would unvail a better health care system. That a 8 years ago and we have never seen that plan. In Trumps debate with Kamala Harris, he was asked about his plan. He was aske it he actually had such a plan and he replied that he had a concept of a plan. Remember when Senaor John McCain courgeously came to the senate floor and cast the deciding not to prevent Trump from killing it.

Vamce for his part said he would like to pools based upon a persons health. That is what standard health care insurance looked like before the affordable care act. He was reminded, that is why many people could not get insurance. If it had been me, it is at that point that I would have said we aren’t going back.

We have just weeks now and we will have to see how this all settles out. I will update next week, or sooner if we have any major developments.
