My last little gem from Spa-Con (view previous ones here and here) this past month is every anime fan’s fever dream. I am talking about OTAKU TAKEOUT in Little Rock, Arkansas! They were prominent at Hot Springs, AR, Spa-Con, and that is where I learned about them. Inside their booth, it’s like you are visiting Japan. From Japanese Ramen, snacks, and beverages to all kinds of Anime collectibles from One Piece to Pokémon and more!

I fulfilled my anime dream by trying an authentic Red Bean Bun that I’ve seen featured in so many anime (they are delicious, by the way)!

ABOUT OTAKU TAKEOUT

It all begins with an idea. Or in their case, a gashapon machine. A popular Japanese capsule toy. You insert coins into a vending machine, turn the crank (“gacha”), and receive a mystery toy sealed inside a plastic capsule that pops out (“pon”). Having just graduated and started working as a brand new pharmacist with his sister/boss, Dr. Gwendolyn Herzig. They have a sibling dynamic that led them to open the largest Japanese pop culture store in the state of Arkansas.

As fans themselves, they’ve striven to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and memorable, where all fandoms are celebrated, and prices are fair!
