Postcards From 28

Writing about 28, Will always carry with it a deep resentment and hate, That I can never really put into words; Especially because of the man I became; And the circumstances that defined that man,

When 28 started, It came with so much hope, Because it felt like for the first time, We were finally getting our lives together, Finally putting the pieces right,

But when it ended, It felt like we had lost the very core of what made us, us; Everything we thought we could be was gone, And what remained was anxiety and fear, Fear that we had lost it all,

And the choices that led to the man you see before you, Were worse than the circumstances that defined him; I made choices and became a version of me, That I now seem to detest and hate, And it is now that hate that fuels the change that I must become.
