Project Plan for Radio Show
Rhetorical context (See Soundwriting 138)
What are your purposes and goals for this project (define at least 3)?
- I want to help educate my listeners on the form paradelle, I aim to properly analyze the form and explain my interpretation.
Who is your audience?
- My target audience is the general public or anyone who is looking to further their knowledge in analyzing poetry and paradelle form.
What is your context?
- My work will be broadcast on the Siena Radio station.
How do these factors play a role and what and how you will compose?
- These factors will influence the way I write my script and convey my knowledge to my audience. Anyone can tune into the station so to make my show easily comprehensible I will use vocabulary that a mature audience will be able to understand with minimal effort.
Genre (See Soundwriting 33–34 & 132–133)
What genre are you composing in?
- Podcast.
What are the rhetorical strategies that composers need to use for their sound writing to be identified as a piece in that genre?
- The power of voice as well as music or ambient sounds.
What are some of the “optional” rhetorical moves people make in the genre?
- Nature and ambient sounds.
Structure and organization
What structure might you imagine for this audio project?
- Solo podcast, I may try to “have a question that drives listeners through the story.” (from Understanding Radio Show Structure in 4 Drawings)
How might you organize your content?
- I will begin with a question about the form paradelle, then deliver my information as a sort of sales pitch as the article describes.
Audio assets (See Soundwriting 47–49)
What kind of audio do you need to collect?
- I need to record myself and potentially find a reading from the author of my poem.
Where and how will you collect these audio assets?
- I can record myself and find a recording from the author online.
See Course Bibliography and Poetry Resources
How and where will you organize these assets?
- I can use my Voice Memo app on my phone to record my audio; I can use my computer to play the authors reading while I am recording the audio on my phone. I can then upload the recording to my computer and can send it from there.
Research assets
What are your 2 secondary research essays?
What are at least 3 other text sources you plan to use to support your claims?
See Course Bibliography and Poetry Resources
Deadlines (See IN FORM | Radio Show Final Project)
What do you need to get done and by what date?
- I need to submit this project plan by Friday, Nov 7th, Step One due Nov 10th, Step Two due Nov 14th, Final part due Nov 21st, and the Final Product is due on December 8th.
What days and times will you devote to this project?
- I will devote various amounts of time everyday to this project.
The Journalist’s questions (See Soundwriting 148)
Looking at the 5 “W’s” and 1 “H” below, are there any you haven’t answered yet in your plan? If so, answer them here.
Who will contribute to the project and support you in composing it?
- Only I will contribute to this project with support from Prof. Belflower and criticism from peers to improve my work.
What do you need to know and gather?
- I need to gather information from various sources on my selected poem and form to help my analysis, (if I can find) a recording of the poem being read by the author
When is it due, and when will you carve out time to do it?
- There are multiple steps due before the entire project is due on December 8th. I will continuously work on this throughout the rest of the semester and in class if provided the time.
Where will it be heard, and by whom?
- It will be broadcast on the Siena radio station by anyone who chooses to listen.
Why is this project important?
- This project will help tremendously to improve my close analysis and public speaking skills.
How will you carry out the various aspects of the plan?
- I will create a schedule to help divide the work among the rest of the semester without having to cram everything within the final week.
