Beyond the Classroom: Why Every New Experience Matters

At Pehchaan The Street School, education has never been limited to classroom lessons alone. Alongside regular learning, the organization continues to create opportunities that help children explore new environments and enjoy experiences that contribute to their overall growth. This week reflected exactly that idea. Each activity looked different on the surface, yet all of them shared one purpose- to ensure that learning remains meaningful yet fun, engaging, and memorable.

Learning Through Exploration

One of the highlights of the week was an outing to Say Fontina where fifteen students, accompanied by three volunteers, spent the day enjoying a hands-on pizza-making activity. Along with sharing a meal together, students learned how pizzas are prepared while experiencing a completely different environment from their everyday classroom learning. Conveyance for every student was arranged, allowing the outing to be comfortable and accessible for everyone.

Another memorable experience came through the visit to KidZania, organized in collaboration with BNPA (Berger Nippon Paint Automotive Coatings Pvt. Ltd.). Twenty-five students participated in role-play activities that introduced them to different professions and everyday responsibilities in an interactive way. Rather than reading about careers, they experienced them in person! This made learning far more engaging. Students were also provided with refreshments and lunch, marking an enjoyable day from start to end. Experiences like these remind us that children learn in different ways.

Creating Space for Creativity

Learning also happens when children are encouraged to express themselves without worrying about right or wrong answers like they do in pen and paper examinations.

During the visit to The Palette Cafe, fifteen students participated in a canvas painting session where colours became a way of expressing creativity. Alongside refreshments and conversations, the activity gave students the freedom to create whatever came to their young minds. Every painting turned out unique in its own way. Activities like these are important because they encourage children to think independently and explore their own interests.

At the GTB Centre, another initiative focused on supporting students inside the classroom. Each student received a stationery kit, a notebook, and a drawing file through a donation drive. These resources may appear simple, but they make everyday learning more accessible while encouraging students to continue participating actively in their classes and creative activities.

Together, these collaborations reflected an important message- meaningful education when children are given opportunities to learn and express themselves in different ways.

Also, as Pehchaan The Street School continues its Summer Drive Initiative, every contribution helps create a more comfortable learning environment for students during the warmer months. Whether it is supporting classroom essentials, contributing towards educational initiatives, volunteering, or joining the organisation as an intern, every effort adds to a journey that is helping children learn. We can all come forward and contribute in whatever capacity feasible.

Sometimes, the most valuable part of education is not only what children learn inside a classroom; it is also the experiences they carry with them long after the day comes to an end.
