Why Do We Stop Trying in Life?
There comes a moment in life when we stop trying—not because we have stopped dreaming, but because we are tired of being disappointed.
A young girl named Sara once had a dream. She wanted to become a writer. She filled notebooks with stories, stayed awake late at night, and believed that one day people would read her words.

But life did not happen the way she imagined.
Her first story was rejected. Then another one. And another.
At first, every rejection hurt, but it also made her want to work harder. She told herself, “Maybe I just need to improve.”
Months passed.
The rejections continued.
Slowly, Sara stopped opening her notebook. The pen that once stayed beside her every night remained untouched on her desk.
Whenever an idea came into her mind, she would tell herself, “What is the point? Nobody will read it anyway.”
And that is how many dreams disappear.
Not because they were impossible.
Not because the person was incapable.
But because the person became tired of trying.
A Small Story About Not Giving Up
One rainy evening, a boy named Adam was walking home from school. He had just received his exam results, and they were much worse than he expected.
He sat alone under a tree and looked at the paper again and again.
“I am not good at this,” he whispered.
An old gardener working nearby heard him. He came over and quietly asked, “How long does it take for a tree to grow?”
Adam shrugged. “I don't know.”
The gardener smiled and pointed toward a small tree.
“Years ago, I planted that tree. For months, nothing happened. If I had stopped watering it because I couldn't see anything, it would never have grown.”
Adam looked at the tree.
The gardener continued, “Sometimes, your effort is growing beneath the surface. You simply cannot see it yet.”
Those words stayed with Adam.
The next morning, he opened his books again.
He didn't suddenly become the best student in his class.
He failed again.
But this time, he didn't stop.
A year later, the same boy who once believed he was a failure stood on a stage and received an award for his academic improvement.
His biggest victory was not the award.
It was the day he decided not to give up on himself.
We often think successful people never wanted to give up. The truth is, they probably did. They also experienced failure, embarrassment, rejection, and days when they questioned themselves.
The difference is that they continued after those feelings.
Life teaches us something strange: we usually don't quit when we fail once. We quit when we start believing that failure defines us.
One bad result makes us think we are not good enough.
One rejection makes us believe nobody wants our work.
One person's criticism makes us question everything we have ever done.
And eventually, we stop trying.
But what if the thing we are giving up on is only one step away from changing?
Imagine planting a seed and digging it up every morning because you cannot see a tree.
That is what we sometimes do with our dreams.
We work for a few days, weeks, or months. When we don't see results, we assume nothing is happening. We become frustrated and walk away.
But growth is often invisible before it becomes visible.
The person who is learning today may look unsuccessful.
The person who is practicing today may look ordinary.
The person who keeps failing today may look like they are going nowhere.
But tomorrow can tell a completely different story.
Sara eventually understood this.
One evening, while cleaning her room, she found her old notebook. She opened it and read the first story she had written years ago.
It was not perfect.
The grammar was not perfect. The sentences were simple. The story had many mistakes.
But Sara smiled.
Because she remembered how much she had loved writing it.
For the first time, she realized something important:
She had not stopped writing because she stopped loving writing. She stopped because she became afraid of failing.
That night, she picked up her pen again.
She did not promise herself that she would become famous.
She did not promise herself that everyone would love her work.
She simply promised herself one thing:
“I will try again.”
And sometimes, that is all we need.
Not a perfect plan.
Not guaranteed success.
Not everyone's approval.
Just the courage to try one more time.
Maybe you are reading this because you have also stopped trying.
Maybe there is a dream you once carried in your heart.
Maybe you wanted to start a business, learn a skill, write a book, build a career, study something new, or simply become a better version of yourself.
And somewhere along the way, you became tired.
If that is you, remember this:
You are allowed to rest, but don't confuse resting with giving up.
You are allowed to fail.
You are allowed to start slowly.
You are allowed to change your plan.
You are allowed to begin again—even if you have already failed many times.
The world may not notice your first attempt.
It may not notice your tenth.
But that does not mean your efforts are meaningless.
Every attempt teaches you something.
Every failure makes you wiser.
Every small step takes you closer to the person you are trying to become.
And perhaps one day, you will look back at the moment when you almost gave up and realize that it was the moment you needed to keep going the most.
So don't ask yourself, “What if I fail again?”
Ask yourself:
“What if this time I don't give up?”
Because sometimes, the difference between a dream that dies and a dream that becomes reality is nothing more than one person deciding to try one more time.
Keep going. Your story may not be over yet.
