Realme GT7 vs OnePlus 13R: Which One is Worth Your Money?

In the upper-midrange/ flagship segment, the Realme GT7 and OnePlus 13R released this year are two standout competitors. They both can be top choices in users’ minds, but it may be hard to choose among them.

Here’s a little comparison to help you decide which phone is worth investing your money in, depending on what kind of performance and features you prioritise in your phone.

Display

The GT 7 has a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display, with a 120Hz refresh rate, 6000nits peak brightness and 2160Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort. All of this is protected by the Armor Shell Glass.

The OnePlus has the same sized 6.78-inch 1.5K ProXDR LTPO AMOLED display, with 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 4500 nits peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

Both are absolutely great for watching content, scrolling, gaming, and reading in the sunlight. However, if you go based on specs alone, the OnePlus would have better battery life thanks to the adaptive refresh rate, an adequate level of readability in sunlight, and stronger protection, although the Realme can also survive drops without a scratch.

Camera

The GT 7 has a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP Sony IMX906 main camera with OIS, a 50MP 2x telephoto, an 8MP ultrawide, and finally a 32MP front camera. These cameras can also record video in 8K.

The OnePlus has a similar configuration with a 50MP Sony LYT-700 main camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto (2x optical zoom), an 8MP ultrawide, and a lower 16MP front camera.

On paper, and usually in real life, Realme leads when it comes to overall performance in terms of image processing, which is more natural, has less noise and more variety thanks to the lens’s performance. It is much better for the price, compared to the OnePlus.

Performance and UI

Getting what you’ll be seeing on screen over with — the OnePlus has much cleaner software (Oxygen OS) overall, especially when you compare it to how clunky with the bloatware the Realme can be.

It is promised with 4 major Android updates and 6 years of security updates, making the device more future-proof, compared to the Realme, which gets 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security patches.

As for performance, both are powerful, snappy and lag-free when it comes to everyday usage.

The OnePlus is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and comes with UFS 4.0 storage and 12GB/16GB of LPDDR5X RAM.

The Realme comes with the Mediatek Dimensity 9400e processor, and 8GB/12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Both phones’ processors are built on a 4nm chipset, which is inherently highly efficient.

The Dimensity takes the lead in terms of power efficiency and more stable battery life, while also being a solid performer when it comes to multitasking and responsive everyday usage. It slightly falls behind the Snpadragon when it comes to raw GPU power in terms of frame rates and 3D tasks. However, the phone loses battery life much faster.

Battery and Charging

Realme is a clear winner here, standing out in this segment for its incredible battery life. The phone can easily go up to 2 days of usage with moderate-heavy use, thanks to its massive 7000mAh battery, and also charges impressively fast with its 120W SUPERVOOC charging.

The OnePlus definitely falls behind in numbers and performance with its 6000mAh capacity and 80W charging.

Verdict

If you prioritise overall stable and efficient performance with a long battery life for daily use, the Realme GT7 is the way to go. If you prioritise more software updates on a phone with intense gaming performance and smooth everyday usage, then the OnePlus 13R may be the one for you.
