Squad Decisions: Keep, Sell or Loan

Tottenham find itself on the precipice of an important season for the club heirarchy, the squad, and the new manager. At the heart of that upcoming season is the squad itself, and as we all know, the group needs a little bit of work.

Our own Max Marchand has his say on what should happen with each and every member of the senior squad. Take a look at the below and let us know what you think!

Hugo Lloris: Sell. The time has come for our captain to say goodbye to Tottenham. He has been a loyal servant to the club through many of our best years and at his peak was one of the best keepers in world football. Having just signed Vicario this shows Spurs’ intent to move on from Lloris as I believe both parties agree it is time to move on from the Frenchman.

Fraser Forster: Keep. Forster was a bright spot in an otherwise dark season last year and is a wonderful backup for the squad. With Vicario coming in he shouldn’t feature too often on matchdays but will step in and do a good job if he is called upon.

Emerson Royal: Keep. A much-maligned figure in the Tottenham community for much of his time at Spurs but last season Royal showed flashes of brilliance, primarily in defense. I think Spurs should hold on to the 24-year-old as a backup option in multiple positions including RWB, RB, and RCB.

Pedro Porro: Keep. I thought Porro was brilliant in the latter half of the season and being that we just signed him in January it is a no-brainer that he will remain at the club. I fully expect him to be a regular starter and contribute greatly to the success of the squad next season.

Djed Spence: Loan. Spence has not had the ideal start to his Tottenham career in which he received minimal playing time throughout the first half of the season and then was loaned out to Rennes. I believe that he would still be the third choice Right Back for Spurs so they should push for a loan in the premier league. Getting game time at a mid-table club would be invaluable for his development and I hope Spurs invest time into Spence because he is a top talent.

Eric Dier: Sell. Selling Dier this window should be a no-brainer. He is past his prime and on the last year of his deal. He has been a part of a defense that has needed a rebuild for years and I believe he has served his time at the club. Although with Tottenham’s history of struggling to ship out deadwood do not be surprised if we find him in a Spurs shirt again next season.

Davinson Sanchez: Sell. No Tottenham supporter wanted Sanchez’s career to go the way it did. I think he and the club both want to part ways this summer. He was a huge talent with massive potential when he joined Spurs but repeated errors made the fanbase turn on him.

Sergio Reguilon: Keep. I think under Postecoglou, Reguilon could be a valuable rotation player. I think he would be the second-best left-back at the club upon his return and despite the poor form that he was in towards the end of 2022 I still think he can perform at the level we saw under Mourinho, especially in a back 4.

Ryan Sessegnon: Sell. To put it bluntly, he is just not good enough. I just cannot see a world where Sess is starting at a club that is trying to challenge for champions league football. He can be a decent mid-table player but I don’t think he has a future at Spurs.

Ivan Perisic: Sell. A quality player who is past his best that did not click with the squad last year. It became clear in his play that he wanted to leave London. He showed flashes of brilliance but I feel like the desire to play for Spurs is not there. Cash out on him this summer.

Japhet Tanganga: Sell. Japhet has shown glimpses of class throughout his Spurs career but it never came to fruition for the youngster. I would love to see another academy product thrive in the first team but at the age of 24, I think I have seen enough to say he is not the center half for our future.

Christian Romero: Keep. Romero has been our best defender since the day he set foot at Hotspur Way and is an integral part of our future. He can be extremely reckless at times and often does not get blamed enough but nevertheless, he should be donning the lilywhite for several more years.

Ben Davies: Keep. A loyal servant to the club who can play multiple positions and provide decent depth there. He can cover LCB, LB, and LWB. He is a solid player who will be a quality depth player for Spurs.

Heung-Min Son: Keep. If we had a clear successor for the Korean winger I might have a different answer to this question. It is clear that we are relying on him yet again for the upcoming season and I do believe he can perform at the world-class level we have seen from him in the past.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Sell. This may be the most controversial take I have in this article. I believe that the Danish international is a good player and a great one on his day. But, I think that it would be smart to sell him while in his prime because I believe that we have talented young players coming into the midfield and that we could get a good fee for him. I believe we have seen the peak of what he can do and he is not going to be starting on a team that wants to consistently fight for trophies.

Rodrigo Bentancur: Keep. Bar Kane, he was our best player last season. I hope and pray that he is the same player he was before the injury because watching him just brings me joy. If Tottenham are going to have success in the next five years it will come with him bossing the midfield.

Richarlison: Keep. Not the first year that we had hoped for the Brazilian but I do believe that he will be much better playing in a more natural position. If Kane does go to Bayern or anywhere else I think he should be the one to replace him and I think he would do a fantastic job.

Yves Bissouma: Keep. Another player who did not have the ideal debut season in North London, marred by injuries and inconsistent playing time. I think he will breakout under Ange, he is the perfect player for his system. On top of that, he wants to play at the club and prove himself to the fans. I am extremely excited to see what he does in year two.

Oliver Skipp: Keep. I think that Skipp is capable of doing everything that Hojbjerg can do and he is only 22. Unless there is an extremely good offer for him I think that he will be great depth for the midfield and has many years to grow as a footballer.

Dejan Kulusevski: Keep. Not a great sophomore campaign for our ginger from Sweden. I think he avoided lots of blame for his poor performances. He needs to bounce back for me to be convinced that he is the winger of our future. I think if he can stay healthy he will perform well and it is easy to forget that he is only 23.

Destiny Udogie: Keep. A top talent that needs to prove himself in the premier league. From what I have seen he looks electric, and I cannot wait to see him in a Spurs shirt.

Harvey White: Sell. For me he is clearly not good enough for Spurs and maybe not even for the premiership. A disappointing loan at Derby County solidified this and we should offload the young midfielder before he becomes deadwood.

Pape Sarr: Keep. Wonderkid. Everything I have seen from him in the past year has told me that he should be consistently getting minutes and starting a good chunk of games next season. He has amazing potential and is an absolute joy to watch.

Harry Kane: Keep. The greatest player ever to put on the shirt. No offer below 100 million should be considered. Simple as that.

Troy Parrott: Loan. Parrott has not impressed during any of his loan spells thus far. I think we should give him another shot at championship football and if he fails again then it may be time for him to go.

Dane Scarlett: Loan. The boy who has been touted as our best academy attacker since Kane. He had a subpar year for Portsmouth last year, but I would like to see him get out on another loan. Game time will be beneficial to him, and he certainly has the talent to play first-team football in the next couple of years.

Bryan Gil: Keep. One of the most creative and talented players I have seen play for us in recent history. I would love to see him get more game time under Postecoglou because I believe he can become a brilliant player for us and possibly the left winger that fills in when it is time for Son to depart.

Joe Rodon: Sell. It feels like ages since I have even seen him play for Spurs. He was a signing that just did not pan out and I think it would be best for both parties if he found a new club.

Tanguy Ndombele: Keep. I was disgusted by how he left the club two years ago but now he is back, and Ange seems to rate him. It seems as if he wants to keep the Frenchman at the club and that is the sole reason that I am willing to give Ndombele another chance.

Giovanni Lo Celso: Keep. We have seen how impactful he has been for Villareal, and I believe he could do that for Spurs, especially in this new system. I personally would keep him, but it looks as if he is pushing for a move. Yet another signing with so much potential that thus far, has failed at Spurs.

Alfie Devine: Keep. Our star boy. I cannot wait to see him get first-team minutes because he looks like such a wonderful footballer. I am so excited to see what is in store for him and I believe he could be a massive player for us one day.

Harry Winks: Sold. Winks has gone to Leicester to help them get back into the Prem. I just want to thanks to Harry for all he has done for Spurs, one of my favorite players, and I hope he finds success in football. We will never forget that night in Madrid. Thank you, Harry.
