Talking About Art, Music, and Peace—The Most Dangerous Act Online

Today I am officially out of the loop. Facebook has banned me. Not because I hacked the system. Not because I stole someone else’s identity. Not because I scammed, insulted, or spread fake news. I did something far more dangerous: I spoke about art, culture, music and—wait for it—peace.

I even dared to create a peace group, echoing a provocative line from Morrissey: “World peace is none of your business”—a phrase whose meaning, perhaps, very few have truly understood.

Accounts Gone Without a Trace In recent days, my long-standing Facebook accounts have disappeared without explanation. Profiles that documented my career as a professional journalist and my cultural passions, created many years ago, suddenly no longer exist.

Over the years, my articles and a column have been published in newspapers, magazines, and online platforms, covering topics from culture and cinema to music and deep ecology. Among the deleted accounts was one linked to an agritourism project that received the Assefor 98 award from the European Community as the best entrepreneurial idea.

Another account documented my journalistic career, which spans over 20 years. At a young age, I joined the editorial office of Fabrizio Schneider, Rai journalist and former spokesperson for Alcide De Gasperi, where I gained my first experience in journalism that shaped me professionally and taught me the ethics of the profession.

Culture, Cinema, and Fellini Among the cultural groups I ran, one was dedicated to cinema and used as its cover image a sketch by Federico Fellini, which he had personally given me at the trade-only world preview of Ginger and Fred. Still I See You: Morrissey Among the cultural pages I curated, there was also one dedicated to the British singer Morrissey, titled Still I See You Morrissey Love Page, launched in October 2025 as a personal gesture of admiration. Its removal occurred on March 6, 2026—the very day Morrissey released his new album, after having been prevented by the industry from releasing records for six years. I supported its promotion, despite it not being an official page, out of respect for an artist too often marginalized, despite his ongoing creativity and loyal fanbase.

I verified the matter with Morrissey’s management: the closure of my profiles was not authorized or requested by him. Even Morrissey’s official Instagram account had been removed without explanation years ago.

The Perils of “Socials” This experience confirms one thing: the voice of those who write and share cannot be erased by algorithms. I will continue to publish, to tell stories, and to share reflections, because culture and truth cannot be stopped. It seems that today, to be considered “model digital citizens,” one must insult strangers, share offensive memes, and try to sell miracle supplements. But if we talk about world peace or we write of art, we risk virtual exile.

A Reverse Meritocracy Here lies the paradox: if you are not a troll, if you don’t steal identities, if you are not deceiving people… Facebook punishes you. A sort of reverse meritocracy.

A Badge of Honor But let it be known: being banned from Facebook today is, in a way, a badge of honor. It means: “Attention, this person is talking about serious things.” It is the new distinction of modern times.

A Toast to Freedom So, dear readers, let’s raise a toast to my ban: a digital exclusion that smells of freedom. Let us continue to talk about art, culture, and yes… music. Because if all of this is a crime, then I stand exactly where I should.
